Poll: Is a Map necessary with a direction card?

I'm deciding if I want to spend the extra $$$...

I'm making up the inserts myself and I am including a map. Some people are more 'visual' and helps them to see something on a map as opposed to just written directions.

does you reception hall have the papers with the directions and map? My hall provides these so check with your place before you spend money on maps

don't spend extra money on a map.

I had one, but my guests said that the MOST helpful part of my directions was were I put the mileage of each 'item'

For example:

Turn Left onto Smith Street. continue 2.1 miles and turn onto Jane Street

continue 4.6 miles and turn Right onto Jones Road

Depends on what $$$ is. I got them done, but I got them done really cheap. Shop around and see what the best price is. If its still expensive than pass on the idea. You can save yourself a ton of money by printing them out yourself.

We didn't have a map. Hopefully everyone has a computer and can access www.mapquest.com

I didn't do it- the map was too confusing. If you follow the directions, you will have no difficulty. You could also go to mapquest and print your own if you were really worried.

I think that some people need a visual to find a location. Many times if they make a wrong turn, they can look at the map and orient themselves.

I don't think you should stress. People will find their way...

Good idea.....
I went to a wedding and the bride and groom had the valet put 'directions home' on the dashboard...it was a really nice touch!

Nice, but definitely not necessary. I didn't do them.

I only want one insert - I don't want seperate ones for the church and receprion in there.

I also want it to look nice. I spent a lot of money on the invites and I want everything to match.

I wanted a map just because I thought it looked better. Sometimes, it also helps to have a map with landmarks and if some of the roads are a little weird. But our directions were relatively simple and since I couldn't find anyone to match our invite paper anyway, I decided to just take it to Kinkos.

One good $$ saving option though would be to have one of these map companies make the digital file for you but not print it. I tihnk they only charge about $75 for this. You can then print them out yourself or at Kinkos. It cost us about $25 for 100 direction cards (front & back) and 100 accommodation cards. Hope this helps

I don't think they are necessary. They are never to scale. As long as your direction cards are accurate, it shouldn't be a problem.

Option: Print up your directions, font & size it to match your other cards, photocopy a few per page on bond or paper of your choice, then cut to size and add. (Idea provided by my invitation sales person).

I voted no. I think directions are enough.

I didn't do it but it is a nice touch. I think as long as your directions are really explicit, than you will be fine.

I have a group of people staying at my hotel this weekend for a wedding. They were given neither directions or a map! They are all frantic and I've been pullling my hair out all morning tring to give them all directions!

I think the maps are a nice touch, but we only added them to our out of town bags--for the invitations we just provided written directions.
