poll - rental linens

so this past weekend i met with maryanne at the finishing touch. who i must add is a sweetheart and has an amazing eye for colors and designs.
originally this was something i wanted to do, but closer to our appointment, i was thinking i should just save money. fast forward to our meeting and of course, i found linens THAT ARE PERFECT AND TO DIE FOR. sheer embroidered table covers, with a satin underlay; coordinating napkins and chair covers with a ribbon sash.
i will try and update this later to post pictures - but i was wondering what your opinions are on this.
is it worth doing? or should we save our money and use it instead on say, desert upgrades (chocolate fountain anyone?!)? will our guests really notice and be impressed?

To be honest the only things i remember from attending weddings is the food and music. I can't remember the linens. If anything get one for the sweetheart table and cake only. You can definitely save your money and add it towards desert...

I would say if you have the funds, do what makes you happy but if you are breaking the bank, spend the money in other areas for impact.

I can barely even remember the centerpieces I've seen, forget the linens! Put your money into something you KNOW would be great.

I never thought about doing it just for the sweetheart table. Wouldn't it look weird if all the linens werent the same? And would they rent just one table cloth I like the idea though, may look into it.

thanks everyone! i really appreciate your input.
as a wedding guest, i know i dont remember linens and napkins - i only remember the food!
but these linens are so beautiful and they totally complete the antique-gothic feel we're going for.
i dont think it would break our bank either way - but it would be nice to have some extra $$ for our honeymoon too!
budgets can be so stressful!
