Re: POLL TO CASH OR NOT CASH
I'm sorry, Etiquette aside. Who in their right mind would write a check and plan on it not being cashed for 60+ days. They wrote you the check as a gift! Cash it now or later, it doesn't matter. They didn't send it you to cash (open) it at the wedding. I also would send a TY note right away. JMO

Re: POLL TO CASH OR NOT CASH
Let me ask you: What date is written on the check?
If it is dated now, I would cash it because it is obvious what their intent was. If they expected or wanted you to wait, they would have post dated the check to the date of your wedding.
If it is dated for now - Cash it now and send a Thank You now.
I hate when people hold on to my checks and don't cash them in a timely fashion.

cash it NOW girl!!! I'm sure you could use that cash with all the wedding expenses coming up and if they didnt want you to cash it now....they wouldnt have sent it now!

send a regular thank you. then after you get the professional thanks yous, send that.
do not cash till after the wedding
I agree. Send a regular thank you letting them know you received the check and that you're sorry they can't come, then cash it after the wedding.
This way they'll know you at least got the check.

Re: POLL TO CASH OR NOT CASH
This is one of my BIGGEST pet peeves... Cash the check!!!! Most people do not keep tons of cash in their checking account (unless they are loaded) and they use it to pay bills so you end up throwing them off when you don't cash it. If they wanted you to wait until the wedding to cash it, then would have sent it after the wedding. If you wait to cash it, they might think that you didn't get it or you didn't want to accept it and when you do end up cashing it, it might bounce because they were not expecting you to cash when you did.

Re: POLL TO CASH OR NOT CASH
I had a similar problem, but I deposited the checks. I will send a thank you card anyways, but didn't want to hold on to the checks for too long. You never know how people are doing financially and didn't want to screw them up if I waited too long. JMO

I'd cash it and send a thank you because I know checks are usually only good for say 60-90 days.
personal checks are good for 1 year from the date they are written
i would cash now though, i cant stand when people dont cash checks and i cant balance my check book, also-they wouldn't have sent the gift now if they didnt expect you to cash it now-they would have waited till a week before like the rest of the girfts you will get from other people not coming

I would cash it now, I hate when I write a check and it doesn't get cashed. Makes me think it was lost in the mail or something happened. Maybe you should ask them if its ok to cash now.
I'd send the thank you with all the other ones after the wedding though
I would do the same. It is annoying when you checking account gets screwed up.

Re: POLL TO CASH OR NOT CASH
i'd send them a thank you card now and cash it now. you don't want them to bounce a check later or something b/c they were expecting you to cash it and it's always nice to say thank you. maybe you can send them one of your formal thank yous when you sit down to do them.

Cash it and send a Thank You card right away.
If you wait almost 3 months to cash it, the gift giver may have thought that you cashed it and could theoretically overdraw their account by mistake.
If they didn't want you to cash it now, they would have waited until closer to the wedding to send you the check.
