I'd cash it and send a thank you because I know checks are usually only good for say 60-90 days.

I agree!!

You put it in the Bank ASAP and send an early Thank You note....

Cash it now, send a note, sorry you can't come will miss you, thanks for the check, hope to see you soon! Then send a photo after the wedding. I think the person wouldn't have sent it if they didn't want you to cash it. It is not rude, people know you can't hold onto a check for too long

That happened to me a lot. I cashed the check and sent thema Thank you card right away.
I hate it when I write a check and it takes forever to cash...

Honestly I would call them to say thank you, and I'd just ask them! I'd tell them that I can wait till after the wedding to cash it but only if thats OK with them

I don't know about yourbank, but check are usually good for a certain time period. I think it's 60-90 days. I'd cash it and send an informal Thank You card. That's what i would do.

I would cash it now and send a thank you but also send another thank you when you get the picture ones! They wouldn't have sent you the check now if they didn't want you to cash it! JMO

I would cash it now, I hate when I write a check and it doesn't get cashed. Makes me think it was lost in the mail or something happened. Maybe you should ask them if its ok to cash now.

I'd send the thank you with all the other ones after the wedding though

me too! I hate when I write my mom a check and she takes forever to cash it...grr...

YES!! Cash it and send a thank you now.
Waiting for someone to cash a check is so annoying...whether they have tons of money or not.

If they sent you something from the registry you would open it and send a ty now.

cash it now... i would be pissed if someone didnt' cash right away - i cannot keep a checkbook and wouldn't want to forget that i wrote out that check and then have it bounce!!

You should defenitely cash it now. I does not look greedy. It will be more of an inconvinience to the couple's finances if you hold on to the check for 80 days.

You should send a thank you note as soon as you receive any gift. This way people know you got the gift and don't wonder if it made it to you alright.

Ideally, I would send an informal thank-you card now and cash it later and send a more formal thank-you again.

However, since it can screw with people's finances that way and make them nervous I would cash it now and send a thank-you as well.

I think if they sent it now, they intended for you to cash it now. Otherwise they may have held off until closer to the wedding.

Cash it now - Send a thank you note - And then send a formal picture thank you after the wedding.

I would cash now.... who knows... she may be budgeting and expecting the check to clear. I would send a thank you note now and if you want to send another nice note after the wedding with a picture or whatever, you could do that too

Cash it and send a Thank You card right away.

If you wait almost 3 months to cash it, the gift giver may have thought that you cashed it and could theoretically overdraw their account by mistake.

If they didn't want you to cash it now, they would have waited until closer to the wedding to send you the check.

NO, a company check like an ADP check with an expiraton date usually expires after 90 days

a personal check can be cashed at any time
i just cashed a birthday check from last june that i just found. (of course i called the person who gave it to me and asked if it was ok)

Personal checks can not be cashed at any time. there is a time limit and i think its somewhere between 60-90 days. I got married at the beginning of the year and a lot of people screwed up the date (they wrote '06 instead of '07) and the bank would not accept it.

I would cash the check now. If they wanted to send it to you later they would have. It is not nice to sit on checks, people expect them to clear and not sit around for almost 3 months.

I would also send a thank you now.

definitely cash it. i would be p issed if i had to wait several months for someone to cash my check because then my checkbook would be screwed up.

if they send you a check, they want you to use it NOW. if they wanted you to wait, they would have sent a card AFTER the wedding.

definitely send a regular thank you now, and then a photo thank you after the wedding
