I personal think that you should cash it later and send her a thankcard after the wedding unless they already told you that they are not coming to your wedding.

Re: POLL TO CASH OR NOT CASH
I would cash it now, I hate when I write a check and it doesn't get cashed. Makes me think it was lost in the mail or something happened. Maybe you should ask them if its ok to cash now.
I'd send the thank you with all the other ones after the wedding though

I agree that too, maybe you should send an informal thank you card/ note/phone call/email

Re: POLL TO CASH OR NOT CASH
I think the proper thing to do is to send a thank you and not cash it until after the wedding. I personally would also send one of the picture thank yous afterwards too. However, if your wedding is 80 days away, you are going to have to cash that immediately after b/c I believe checks are only good for 90 days.
Etiquette aside, I just had to respond 'no' to a couple of weddings and I enclosed checks with the responses. I have to say that I was pleased that the couples cashed my checks b/c I hate having outstanding checks. That's me. I have yet to receive a thank you from them, which I do think is rude.

I'd cash it and send a thank you because I know checks are usually only good for say 60-90 days.

Re: POLL TO CASH OR NOT CASH
NO, a company check like an ADP check with an expiraton date usually expires after 90 days
a personal check can be cashed at any time i just cashed a birthday check from last june that i just found. (of course i called the person who gave it to me and asked if it was ok)

Re: POLL TO CASH OR NOT CASH
Cash it and send a Thank You card right away.
If you wait almost 3 months to cash it, the gift giver may have thought that you cashed it and could theoretically overdraw their account by mistake.
If they didn't want you to cash it now, they would have waited until closer to the wedding to send you the check.

Re: POLL TO CASH OR NOT CASH
You should defenitely cash it now. I does not look greedy. It will be more of an inconvinience to the couple's finances if you hold on to the check for 80 days.
You should send a thank you note as soon as you receive any gift. This way people know you got the gift and don't wonder if it made it to you alright.

Re: POLL TO CASH OR NOT CASH
I would deposit it NOW! Everyone I know that has sent a check as a gift for any reason always says you should deposit it right away or it will mess up their bank accounts. I would do it and send a thank you now and send one after the wedding also.

Re: POLL TO CASH OR NOT CASH
I would cash it now as well. If I sent a cheque to someone for a wedding and it was an early present, I would want them to cash it.....easier on my banking And if you purchase something for the house or whatever, maybe even mention that in the thank you card......like, we really appreciated the monetary gift. We just wanted to let you know that we purchased... ___________ . Thank you so much!
Thant kind of thing.......

Re: POLL TO CASH OR NOT CASH
The only reason that I say cash it now is because knowing me I would misplace it. Also, if the check isn't either cashed or deposited right away then it throughs peoples checking accounts off. I would send a thank you now and then a professional thank you when you get it.
