Poll: to cut or not to cut...

Poll: to cut or not to cut...

I have a major dilemma going on and need some help. I'm in 2 weddings this November and my own is in May. I originally decided to grow out my hair so that it could be put up for all 3 weddings. The problem is that I CAN'T STAND my hair longer than shoulder length! Regardless of cut style, it's so heavy it just lies there, and is somewhere between straight and wavy. I just put it up every single day and feel so unattractive when I look at myself in the mirror. My question is: do I suck it up so I can put my hair up for the weddings, or do I just cut it and trust that whoever does my hair will be able to create some magic with shorter hair? Does anyone have photos of themselves in a wedding where something was done with shoulder-length or slightly shorter hair? TIA!

if your really unhappy with how your hair looks i say cut it and just keep it how your happy....they will be able to do your hair for the weddings and if not you can add extensions!

Or if you like get it layered so it takes some of the weight off.

Get it cut now so you'll be comfortable for the next few months. It'll grow back a bit by November. Then, after November get it cut again and then let it grow out in time for your wedding in May.

I got my hair cut the day before my friend's wedding in July. It was like an inch below my shoulder. You could never even tell! I have a picture of the up-do I wore to the wedding and it looks like I had hair down to my @ss. I'll send it to you once I get home from work. Also, I didn't even have it done professionally.. one of my friends who does hair on the side for fun did it.

i completely understand what you are dealing with. all my life my hair was super long. i mean down to my waste. i always said it was my security blanket and i would only get it trimmed. well back in 2006, i decided enough is enough & i cut 10 inches.

ever since then i don't let my hair grow long anymore. i feel like a different person. i don't look like a little kid with super long hair anymore & my hair is healthier & much more manageable.

i recently got it trimmed, in July & will be going every 10 weeks as my hair stylist suggests. if i am not happy with the length at my trial we will put in extensions. i can't have my hair looking like a disaster every day leading up until the wedding.

I cut about 12-13 inches off about a month ago. FH had been asking me to for a while. I, like you was just putting it up day after day so it was SUPER boring!!!! I'm def happy I made the chop & I have plenty of time to grow my hair out. Just do it!!!!

I had short hair for my HS prom a long asss time ago. It was a little higher than my shoulders. I was still able to do an updo. The woman was able to pin my hair in a way that it appeared as though all my hair was up but really the outer parts were down and the middle was actuallly lose and curled. it looked normal and you couldn't tell that my hair was as short as it was. I hope all that made sense.

To make that even shorter... the hair stylist should be able to do something with short hair as well if you watned to go that route!

You can keep it long but do layers and have her thin the ends out. That's what I did to my hair bc it is long and super thick. It's so much lighter and easier to style.

I was growing mine out for my wedding and every time I went to get colored I wanted to cut it. My hairdresser would always talk me out of it and Im glad we did. My hair would not have been able to be put up the way I wanted with it shoulder length...I would have had to get extensions. WHat I did do was get a brazilian so my hair was smother and easy to deal with.
