20,000 (my parents and his mom are paying) anything over that we have to pay and we have no money so 20,000 it will be

We started off thinking we could budget 10-15K wedding as well. Well everything costs 2 to 4 times more than what I thought it would. So we are expecting to budget everything (not including honeymoon) between 25-26K.

It's really important that when you set down a budget you honestly don't BUDGE from it what - so -ever. If you say 'I want to spend 3K on a Photographer and not a penny more' you have to do it. Sacrifices have to be made somewhere!

I think this was our problem - we started with just a general budget # not specifying how much we wanted to spend for what. We are now nearing the 'end' of the budget and we still need flowers, favors, BParty gifts, RD, not to mention tipping!

we thought we were going to be easy on things. but that didnt happen. the only thing that we stuck to was family only to the wedding. after all is said almost $20k.
