Poll: When did your parents meet FI's parents? Please respond

It is unbelievable but I have been dating FI for over five years. We have been engaged for one year. Our parents still have not met. My parents have offered to arrange it. But his parents have rejected their offer saying that they would arrange it. His mother scheduled something in December and then quickly cancelled it because of a little snow that fell three days before the meeting (how pathetic). She never rescheduled.

Is anyone less than 5 months before the wedding and still have yet to have the parents' meeting?

They met at our engament party.. about 2 1/2 years after fi and i have been together..

Your not the only one. I've been dating fw since July 10, 2000. We got engaged July 16 2002. Our families met each other for the first time at our engagement party last year. Its all good.

we where together for 3 years before we got married and they only really meet last nov. at my daughetrs b'day party

my mother and I had a falling out when they were supposed to meet......so that was called off so as of now they have yet to meet.........I honestly don't care cause my mother is a real pain in the ***........

I actually arranged a meeting a couple of months after we started dating. It was very easy because both families have summer houses out east and we arranged it on a weekend they were all going to be there.They now get together often. I am so happy they get along so great!!! If I were you I would just arrange a meeting myself. Don't depend on the parents to do it!

Don't worry, my FI and I dated for five years, then moved in together, and then got engaged and through the whole time our parents never met. They finally met in mid-February and we are getting married in Mid-July. Since then they have only spoken once. Needless to say, they are VERY different types of people!
Maybe you should be the one to arrange the first meeting, cook a dinner at your apartment or a lunch??

Our parents met for the first time a few months shy our 3 year anniversary. Well......I should say they met his mom. She came to my college graduation in May. We got engaged in July. My parents did not meet his father until the engagement party which was at the end of August.

Our parents met this past weekend. We have been together 4 1/2 years and engaged since Oct. My parents live in NY, so the FILs flew with us last week.

My excuse is that FILs and I live in Chicago. What's everybody else's excuse, especially if all of you live in NY.

i think our mothers met for the first time prior to the engagement, fathers met at FSIL's wedding last summer...

eta: my parents actually invited them for brunch this sunday, they live 2 1/2 hours apart upstate...FH's a little nervous as we will not be around to chaperone...

Our parents met a couple of weeks after our engagement.. and then we've been to each other's houses for holidays.. it's great!

WOw! We have been dating for 51/2 years and our parents have been hanging out since we were dating for year. My Fi's family is part of our holiday celebrations...

I guess i am one of the only ones..ANyone else like this?

Me too. We started sharing holidays before we got engaged and now it is just natural. Our mothers went mother dress shopping together

FH's mom comes to just about every holiday at my mom and stepdad's. They met when we were dating about 6 months!

My FH husband family and my family met at our oldest daughters baptism 5 years ago an havent run into each other since then... FH family is giving me a really hard time about the wedding and therefore my family isnt appreciative of the stress that they are causing me so I dont think there will be a get together till the wedding. (sad but true...)

I met FI's parents a 6 of months before we got engaged and have spent quite a few holidays with them so we're cool. On the otherhand, my FI has not yet met my mom (not that it really matters to me) coz she lives in Houston. So if she comes to the wedding then they will meet for the 1st time about a week before. I know it sounds really stupid but I have a mother who is weird like that and we have an amicable relationship.
