Re: Poll: When did your parents meet FI's parents? Please respond
Still have not met.

Still have not met.
My parents and his parents haven't met, and probably won't meet until the wedding. I'm hoping to arrange a dinner the night before the wedding to make this slightly less awkward. The lack of meeting isn't for any dramatic reason -- the families just don't live near each other.
Sounds odd, I'd either have your FH talk to his parents and find out what is going on or maybe your parents could try to set something up again. My friend's parents met her DH's parents at the E-party.
Do you live with your parents? Maybe invite everyone out for Easter or Passover?
We have been together for your years -- they met in local community functions since my sister and his brother are close to each other in age. It was always a nice hello and they would sit next to each other. I think my dad used to see FFIL at the gas station and talk to him too -- but they didnt officially sit down together until after we were engaged. My parents took them out to dinner - I was so nervous , as our families are VERY different. But it wasn't THAT bad in the end :)
FI and I have been together over 7 years and engaged since November. My father has met both of his parents, and his father has met both of my parents, but our 2 mothers haven't met yet. It's hard b/c my family's in San Diego and his's in LI. My mom is planning a trip to NY in September/October, so they'll be able to meet, but my dad's not coming. The first time we'll have them all 4 together probably won't be until the week before the wedding. Oh well. :o)
Our parents first met when my parents came up to visit me in college the weekend of Brad's a cappella show. We were only dating for four months at that point. We have done all the wedding planning together as well, with both sets of parents, so they see each other quite frequently and have been to one another's homes a couple of times.
Our parents met a few months before we got engaged...they were all helping us paint and move into our apartment.
soon after engagement, although fh's parents invited them to the party before they knew we were engaged....
So nervous still trying to avoid it. My parents never like anybody, they live out of state Florida and were not very close.
That's so weird! Our parents have known each other from the very beginning! Then again, we met in HS. But his parnets come over for christmas eve, and we get together for my birthday and his, etc. I can't imagine them not knowing each other. I just finalized my plans to meet his grandparents, aunt, uncle and cousins in Florida, finally! And I think THAT's about time!
My mother met his mother in the grocery store when we were dating a couple months. A couple weeks after we got engaged my mom hosted a dinner for his family, and our grandparents got to meet for the first time (which was fun because they are all 85!). My father (my parents are divorced) keeps planning on visiting to meet them, but I have a feeling the first time he will meet them will be at the wedding (he lives upstate and rarely visits). It's nice because often they include my mom and brother in holidays since my family is smaller because my parents are divorced. It is a crazy chaotic event but fun with such a large group!
My FH and I were together for 6 years on-and-off and our moms had spoken on the phone but never met. The we were living together for 2 years and the had still never met. They finally met last October for our engagement party and they got along really well. Since then we've had dinner at his parents house and at my parents house and my mom is planning on inviting them for Passover, so things are going well.
We just had our first 'official' get together Saturday night. We got engaged in December, but FFIL works nights (4 days on, 4 days off) and it made planning hard. I was getting stressed out about it. FH said that they would have all of our lives to get to know one and other. The sooner they meet, the sooner disagreements could start. He's much more relaxed than I am.
I can beat that! FH and I have known each other since high school (15 yrs ago) dated for 5 years and they still haven't met, and they live 30minutes away from one another, and we've been living together for two years! FMIL is having dinner for the families to meet in May.
