We have about 8-10 kids coming to our wedding in the 7-12 year old range. I'm not sure if I should seat them all together or put them with their parents. I think they'd have a better time sitting together, but I'm afraid that they might need someone to keep an eye on them. What is everyone else doing?

Re: Poll: Where are you seating children?
We are only having 4 children at the wedding ranging in age from 4-8 and are planning on seating them with their parents for the reason you mentioned, so the parents can watch over them.

We are having 8 children ( 5 are in bridal party) so far 6 of them will be picked up by relatives after the cocktail hr ( we are having a 8-1 am party) I think the other 3 will probably stay through dinner and then go and if so I will sit them with the parents.

we are having 10 kids ranging from3-12 and I was thinking of just having a kiddie table set up for them but now I am starting to worry and would like for their parents to keep an eye on them so I guess I really don't know.

Re: Poll: Where are you seating children?
I'd say definitely don't doa kids table..my reason may sound stupid, but it's geniune..
When I was 4 I went to my first wedding. It was my cousin's wedding. We were seated sort of by age. I was at a kiddie table, my sister at a teenager table, etc. I can only tell you that I hated it. I think it's too overwhelming for kids. They're not used to being in huge rooms full of people tey don't know. I felt so isolated, and then I went and sat at the teenager table with my sister. My parents were in another part of the room and I remeber feeling like they were so far away. My parents also hated not sitting with us., and it was pretty scary for me, so scary that I remember it all these years later.
The only other thing I cna say is maye try to think about seating couples with children near each other so the kids can play and interact near their parents, etc.

7 children ranging in ages from 2-10... they will be a kid's table which will be conveniently located to their parent's table.

I am having 5 kids ages 2-12 I am going to ok it with the parents but I think I might hire one of my sisters friends to 'babysit' for the night. She can sit with the kids and kinda keep them occupied for the evening. We are going to get a Tv/vcr combo and a few videos for the bridal suite and they can hang out in there for a little too. This way the parents have a good time and at the same time I know they are going to be distroying the place.

Re: Poll: Where are you seating children?
I agree with Mary Moon. if the kids don't know each other they may be better off withthere parents. Fh has 2 cousins I think they are 10 12 & 14 or so and the younger one is really shy & and the older one is fine talking with adults. I have 9 & 13 year old cousins & if they coem they'll be the only people fromym dad's side of teh family, so I think I'll keep them with their parents. they also have a brotehr who will be 2 , I don't know if my unle will bring him, but he of course would be with his paretns. I think they'd worry about him too much if he wasn't.
I also have a 12 year old on my mom's side who I am very close to. So I twill put him wherever I put my 30 year old brother & 28 year old cousin who are not in the bridal party. It may be with the bridal party ( there sisters are Bms) or it may me with their parents. The 12 year old thinks he's about 19 anyway. (He's so cute- he wants to drive so badly. . .)

i like that
i would say to seat them with their parents. That way the parents can watch over them, also upto a certain age some kids still have their parents cut their food for them, before they eat them, so it would help having parents next to them... if your worried about entertaining them, perhaps for the young ones coloring books...

Re: Poll: Where are you seating children?
I am in the same boat as you. I do not want a kids table because I feel that there will be no adult supervision there and they could get wild. So, I am seating them with their parents.

Re: Poll: Where are you seating children?
I didn't have kids at my wedding but now that I actually have kids, I'd have to say that if I was to take them to a wedding, I'd want them to sit with me. What if the kids are sitting at a kiddie table and one gets up to run over to tell his mom something. And runs into a waiter carrying 20 or so dinners? I'd say definitely with their parents so there's someone to keep an eye on them.

Re: Poll: Where are you seating children?
Well...I am having about 15 kids...and some of them are under 2. Those that need highchairs...will sit with their parents. Those that don't will be sitting at a kids table (also located near their parents table). I am having 3 baby-sisters...1 to sit at the kids table, and 2 to look after the kids under age 2 (this way, they will only be looking after 2 or 3 kids max). They will have full reign of the bridal suite to entertain the kids.
My only obstacle...is the parents of these kids are my cousins. My plan is to put the kids table way in the back...and their parents table would also be in the back. I just don't want my cousins to be insulted....because family is supposed to sit closest to the bride and goom. Oh well...they can't have everything. I'm allowing them to bring kids because it wasn't worth starting WWIII with my family over this point. Now they will just have to deal with sitting towards the back of the room.
Sorry this was so long!

in a cage...
okay, seriously, with their parents. some of the children we have to include tend to have behavioral issues so their parents have to suffer for forcing us to invite their kids.

Re: Poll: Where are you seating children?
I'm seating my nieces and nephews with their parents. I thought about a kids table, with special favors and a childrens themed centerpiece...but all I could think was 'FOOD FIGHT!' and I came to my senses.
Mommies and Daddies will have to watch them!

Re: Poll: Where are you seating children?
We sat all the kids at their own table. And we put them right next to the DJ. We had to put someone closest to the DJ so we figured the kids had the best tolerance for the loud music.
