So, I have literally DECADES until I need to set my menu for my November 2012 wedding, but FH and I have a little bet going about our salad course. We disagree on which is the superior salad. Neither of us is TOO worried about who will win, because our banquet manager already told us that he would bring the 'loser' his or her preferred salad even if the guests all eat the other one.
Anyway, I thought I could count on you ladies to set the score! So, which salad would you prefer to have, as a guest? Or, if you were a guest at a CHCC wedding, did they serve one or the other and what did you think of it?
Here's the descriptions:
TROPICAL SALAD: Fresh, crisp dark greens tossed with crumbled gorgonzola, toasted walnuts and cranberries, lightly dressed with balsamic vinaigrette.
TUSCAN SALAD: A truly hearty appetizer with an Italian flair, this duet's mixed greens are topped with roasted peppers, marinated Portobello mushroom, and sliced mozzarella with balsamic vinaigrette.
Vote please! And any feedback on why would be appreciated (We have each have very good reasons about WHY our favorite is better... I hope I win... lol)

I voted for the Tuscan but would eat both. The reason I was thinking the Tuscan is because I know in my family a lot of people are picky about nuts and cheeses so the Tropical may go uneaten or picked apart, especially with a strong cheese like gorgonzola. But I think either would be delish if I were a guest!

I chose Tuscan, I don't do Gorgonzola....unless I could get the tropical with out the Gorgonzola cheese then I would do either.

I chose the tuscan and for the same reason as above: that cheese can be really strong and overpower the salad. I love cheese, but gorgonzola can go either way with both myself and guests.

I would pick the tropical since it is more my taste, but FH would probably pick the Tuscan since he is Italian.

Let me know what you pick! I know you can't ever please anyone but I'd at least rather try to please most people rather than just myself lol. I am trying to bite my tongue about which one I want at least til the poll has been up for a fill day lol....

they both sound awesome and i would eat either in a heartbeat ... but for me, anything with portabella mushrooms takes the win
Tropical, but minus the gorgonzola (I just don't like it).

Well any new viewers please vote, but it definitely looks like I am losing this one! lol.
I strongly prefer the Tuscan. I think it seems much more like a duet (appetizer/salad combo) than the other one, which seems kinda scant to me in comparison. Also, I wouldn't touch gorgonzola with a 10-foot pole, AND my wedding is in November (this doesn't scream 'tropical and fruity' to me!)..... I guess if they could sub in goat cheese to the tropical one I'd find it less offensive. But it still seems to SUMMERY!
Maybe I won't tell FH about this poll.... LOL...

we ended up w/ our hall's equivilent of the 'tropical' choice, because seasonally (our july wedding) it was a better fit.

Thanks for the info! Congrats on making your selections! I am still sort of stuck. I don't want to serve summer salad but it seems to be the favorite.
