Technically and etiquette wise, your BP should host it.

my mom is paying for the shower and the girls are paying for invitations, centerpieces, favors etc...

my mom has always paid for our showers. that's how it's done in my family. I think it depends.

I've seen it both ways.. for mine, my mom paid to rent the place out and my BP paid for most everything else. For my friend's shower last year, her mom insisted on reimbursing us for every single thing we bought. So it just depends...

my mom is paying half, and my bridal party is paying half

I think it's different in every case. My Mom paid for it, but that's b/c she could. If she couldn't have, I'm sure my girls would've put something together.

I can't remember the last shower I went to where the BP paid ... I guess in my group, the Mom pays & the BP handles all the activities for the day

i already know that my MOH's are planning and paying

My mom is paying. In Italian families it is usually the custom to have the MOB pay. It's way too much to ask my BP to do...I would never expect them to do that!

My mom is helping, but it is mostly my bridal party.

most of the showers i have attended the mob have paid and the bridal party has helped out. I think it depends on the family.

Re: POLL: who pays for the shower?

The shower shold be hosted by the BMs. The mother can quietly help financially if the BMs are in a tight spot, but she should not get hosting 'credit.' No close family member should host the shower, because it looks like a gift grab for the relative.

Also, the bride cannot demand or is not 'owed' a shower. It is an endeavor for which BMs volunteer to take on themselves and is not part and parcel of becoming a BM.

My bridal party is paying for most of it. And my mom is pputting in some money also. So both of them.

Re: POLL: who pays for the shower?

traditionally its the bridal party. As per Martha Stewart (LOl Im a dork) the family shouldnt pay 9unless part of the bridal party) because then its like the family asking for presents and it is viewed as rude.

IMO the bridal party should pay, unless a lot of people are being invited and it is going to cost them a lot of money. Then I think family should help pay for it. Its only fair!

I have seen it both ways..either mom, or BP. My mom did mine.

A little birdie has told me that both are paying. My mom is contributing a large chunck and then my BP (who I'm learning is just amazing!!! Not that I didn't already know that...) is making up the difference.
