Our parents aren't paying for the wedding so we just used 'together with their parents' to be nice. I would have used 'son of ' and 'daughter of' but it would have gotten to confusing and scandalous with all the divorces and re-marriages so I played it safe.

Re: Poll: Whose name is on invite
We put both parents names. My mother questioned that, since I was the one who wrote the invitations, and I explained that just because FILs didn't contribte as much money as my parents didn't mean that they didn't contribte what they could afford. I don't know how she really feels about it, but she dropped it and hasn't said anything about it since.

Re: Poll: Whose name is on invite
We included both sets of parents because I wanted everyones names on the invite.. Regardless of who was paying for what..

Re: Poll: Whose name is on invite
We went with tradition on this one. Plus, I cannot truthfully say that the fact that FMIL and I were not talking at the time I placed the order for the invites did not aid in my decision.

Re: Poll: Whose name is on invite
Our parents all made or will be making contributions to the wedding costs but we are paying for most of it. My parents are divorced and I didn't want the names of divorced people on my invitation so for those reasons and a few other lesser ones we used a 'together with our Parents' line.
Together with our Parents, we invite you, Our family and friends, To share in the celebration of love as we.

My parents got an invite the other day and teh grooms parents names were at the bottom.... my mom said that the grooms parents were offended... this i don't understand someone on this thread posted it like this....
parents name of bride and groom son of grooms parents names
personally i think this is nice.... i don't know why they would get offended like someone else said
I dont see anything wrong with that...I like it.

Re: Poll: Whose name is on invite
Our parents are paying for our wedding (I know we are sooo lucky!) so our invites will read:
Mr & Mrs. Bride's Parents Mr & Mrs. Groom's Parents Request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their children.....
If our parents were not paying, or if only one set was paying, I would still incorporate both sets of parents b/c we are both very close to our parents....I just don't know exactly in what format I would incorporate them if that was the case.

Re: Poll: Whose name is on invite
We had my parents first, since they were paying, doing the 'requesting the honour of your presence at the marriage of their daughter x to y, son of...' So we had his parents on their, but not as hosts. At least for us, one reason to do this was b/c we were told that guests on my husband's side might have been a bit muddled as to why they were being invited to the wedding if his parents' names were not somewhere on the invite.

Re: Poll: Whose name is on invite
My aunt and uncle's names went on the invites, they are paying for EVERYTHING!! FH's parents did not offer a penny towards anything, so we felt it was only right to have only my aunt and uncle on the invite.

We're paying for just about everything and we're 29 and 30, so we felt the traditional wording of my parents presenting me wasn't appropriate anymore.
We looked at it every different way and were most comfortable with just our names.
I'm with you. We are paying for and planning everything ourselves and I didn't feel it was necessary to make mention of them...kinda glad now - they are all giving me nothing but a headache!!!

I plan on doing it this way too. Originally we were going to have both parents names on top but not anymore.

Thats what we are doing, even though we are paying for the majority we liked that way.

Ours say, 'Together with their parents, Bride and Groom.....' FFIL passed away and we didn't know how else to include him without naming him. This way, depending on how you read it, it doesn't include or exclude anyone.
Same here - only my father.

That's what we did, if I included parents it was going to be all 4 of them & my mom wanted her first name & then it just seemed so wordy & we weren't really sure who was marrying whom!

Re: Poll: Whose name is on invite
I hate to sound nasty but in my personal situation.
We are throwing the party, we're doing the inviting, our names are the only one's on the invitations.
I would LOVE to include just my parents since they are helping but I don't think it's 100% fair. I do think, it is somewhat fair but I rather not deal with the drama and have to explain myself in the end.

Re: Poll: Whose name is on invite
I actually wanted to put FIL's name on the invite, but they are extremely traditional (I guess that's the right word). They felt only the bride's parents should go on the invite, so that's how I did it. THere was enough arguing going on with the list, I didn't want to add to it.

Re: Poll: Whose name is on invite
after numerous issues w/ his parents after they told me they were contributing, I decided to add it b/c I didn't want a formal 'son of' invite
so we did his parents and mine just b/c it was nicer and that's what i wanted
