We included all the parents regardless of financial support.

Re: Poll: Whose name is on invite

We're paying for just about everything and we're 29 and 30, so we felt the traditional wording of my parents presenting me wasn't appropriate anymore.

We looked at it every different way and were most comfortable with just our names.

Us too.

Ours say, 'Together with their parents, Bride and Groom.....'
FFIL passed away and we didn't know how else to include him without naming him. This way, depending on how you read it, it doesn't include or exclude anyone.

We're going to include both- just seems like the right way to do it.

Fh and I are paying for the wedding ourselves, we used 'Together with our parents' but didn't put their name. It just woldn't fit on the invitation.

Re: Poll: Whose name is on invite

We had some 'fun' with this. We started off with

Mr. and Mrs. Bride's Parents
request the honour of your presence at the Nuptial Mass uniting their daughter

me

and

DH

son of Mr. and Mrs. Groom's parents
in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony

MIL flipped and said that she felt that it shouldn't be about who pays and that both sets of parents should have the right to invite their family to the church (since that is what the main invitation card is anyway)

so my mother who was going through the stress of a best friend dying (she died a week after we ordered the invites), gave in to MIL request and our invite read

Mr. and Mrs. Bride's Parents
and
Mr. and Mrs. Groom's parents
request the honour of your presence at the Nuptial Mass uniting their children

me

and

DH

in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony

even though my parents paid for the whole reception, the invitations, the favors, the band, and some other incidentals...

I would like to do that, but both FH's parents have passed away, so wouldn't it be inappropriate?

Same here which is why we didn't include parents on the invite.

Aside from the we are both in our mid/late 30's ...

Re: Poll: Whose name is on invite

My parents got an invite the other day and teh grooms parents names were at the bottom.... my mom said that the grooms parents were offended... this i don't understand
someone on this thread posted it like this....

parents name
of
bride
and
groom
son of grooms parents names

personally i think this is nice....
i don't know why they would get offended like someone else said

Re: Poll: Whose name is on invite

My parents are paying for the reception and a bunch of other things, we are paying for the remainder. FILs are paying for the RD.

I am wondering why you would put both parents names if only one set is actually throwing (paying for) the party? My FIL's aren't paying therefore they aren't technically inviting anyone, my parents are. I think the invitation is the one way to acknowledge the people that are sacrificing so much (monetarily) to help you with your wedding, therefore only my parents' names were on the invite...JMO!

I feel the same way but my dad thought that it was only right that we put my FILs names on the invitation even though they are helping with nothing.
We put both set of parents names on the bottom of the invitation.

I agree. but I think it depends on your relationship with them. If my FILs provided emotional support to me, FI, or the wedding, I would have included them. But they haven't done anything, so I did not even consider it. FI did not care.

Not only are my parents paying for everything, they are also doing the majority of the planning, since I live out of state. I love my FILs, but I want everyone to know that this wedding would not be possible without my parents. They deserve all the credit in the world!

I agree with you ... i was going to say something...
if you are close to you FIL's then i would say sure and if tehy have been helpful maybe not $$$wise but in otherways...then it is a nice gesture but if FH doesn't care then it is up to
