Re: Poop attack
omg goober i love it! and hes adorable.
My 1 1/2 year old Schitzu 'Punky' goes on the wee wee pad and used to do that.
What we did is we stalked the hell out of her. My mom was on vacation for a week and would watch her and everytime she would poop and go near it after my mom would yell 'punky no poop!' and tap her nose. after about 6 days she stopped doing it.
schitzus are dumb dogs tho. it takes forever to train them to do or not do something. (or mine anyway)

omg!!! i am having the same problem!!!

A vet told us we can try putting meat tenderizer on their poop because it makes it taste terrible but I don't want to chase poop all my life sprinkling tenderizer on it. Neighbors will think I'm nuts.
Someone also told me that this is bad for the puppy's stomachs...
The same vet said that her dog eats cat and goose poop and she didn't sound too concerned but still, it's nasty.

Re: Poop attack
my dog used to do that as apuppy. i read that the moms sometimes would eat the poop so that their beds would be clean. you need to give him a certain pill that they sell in petco. it makes his poop smell sooo disguisting that he will stop doing it.
Thanks! I'm going to have to try the tablets. The Stop Eating Poo I tried was a powder and since I feed my dogs dry food, it was a pain giving it to them.
will update if it helps my poo eating pups

HA! Been there, done that! My dog did this (only she didn't just bring it to us, she consumed it...still makes me gag) for her first year or so. Apparently pretty common. They sell a powder you can put on their food that makes their poop taste bad. Didn't work for her, though. We just had to watch her really closely and would call her in the very instant she turned around to 'check things out.' Greet her w/ a reward & maybe she'll rush to you instead of to her pile! This is what worked for us. Well, good to know they make doggie toothpaste that tastes like chicken and is delicious to them...good luck!

TY! He is alot to handle, and he is REALLY hyper, but thats b/c i don't have the time to run him ne more b/c i work full time now. But i am gonna start training him to pull in the summer (he comes from a line of show dogs and he is smart as ne thing) But he is soooo sweet. I hate when ppl talk bad about pits b/c they really r sweet and lovable, and it really is the owner not the dog, that makes them mean!
I had a friend who was really involved in pulling w his pit.
Your baby is BEAUTIFUL! I'm a huge pit fan :)

aww that's funny! lol, I know it's bc it's not MY dog but it is funny! Cierra picks anything up and gives it to me. Once she picked up a frozen turd and gave it to me and I screamed! lol
Honestly, I find that the wee wee pads are good to a point but then after a while should be eliminated. My dogs are home all day without me and they wait until I get home to go out. Can you start weening your pup off them?

Sigh, our pomeranian is SO good and holds it (we leave a wee wee pads for him) to the point where FH and I feel horrible. Like we'd have to work late and get home at 10pm and he'd pee for 5 mins outside. Our schedules are unpredictable which is why we got a small dog that could use wee wee pads (I LOVE big dogs). We also got Goober so our pom could have company during the day. Since we got Goober, our Pom seems to be using the pad more which like I said, is a relief because I don't want him holding it for 10 hours.
Once we move, I want to look into dog walkers.
eta: and we did wean the puppy to use one pad in the corner of the kitchen instead of a pad in practically every room. soo...progress lol

I;d just give him a firm no every time he does it and eventually he'll stop. he's a baby and they have to learn.

Re: Poop attack
I really shouldn't laugh being that my dog used to eat his poop as a pup too... but the whole bringing it to you like a gift is hilarious!
I tried all the things you did, like the hot sauce, meat tenderizer, and firm no's... but he would still do it. I think he liked the extra spice!
Honestly, the only way to correct it is to teach him to do it outside. That was the only way my dog learned to stop. You'll have to crate train him for a bit (which I hate, but works) so he won't eat his poop while you're not home. And try to see if a neighbor or family member can stop by your house to walk them until you can get a dog walker.
Hope everything works out!

Re: Poop attack
I had a similar experience with my puppy! I'll spare you the details
There is a powder you can put in the dog's food to make him not want to eat his poop. You get it from the vet.
Just keep disciplining him when he does it and he will learn to stop.... I hope!
Maybe he doesn't have enough chew toys?

Ugh, I have read tons about it and my pom does it too. But he's a closet poo eater and knows its wrong but can't resist the fudgy deliciousness I guess.
a closet poo eater...HAHAH sorry to hear that. It's so gross. I have a 125 lb german shepard and he has giant poos and he eats them and his breath STINKS afterwards. I try to pull him away but it must be really tasty to them

LOL! i think that is what he is doing. but pups do eat their own poop. I would stop with the wee wee pads and try taking him outside every hour when u r home, and when u see him eating/carrying his poop scold him. Its the only why he will stop. Rocky gets grounded and put in his 'room' (which was our room until he ate the bed and the door and the moldings, and he ate thru a wall in the other room when he was 3 months! ) soooo needless to say my dog has serious seperation anxeity....but that runs in his breed!
OMG. what kind of dog do you have? My Bijon Poodle goes CRAZYYYYYYYY if I leave the room for even a second. He put his head through his soft top cage and nearly choked himself, so i bought him a new one, and he put his head through that one also. He broke the door on his Hard top cage, I am spending a fortune on cages. My Shitzu poodle used to eat her poop as well as his poop, But I haven't seen her do that in a few months. Sooooo Nasty.

omg! lol that's not good! I don't know how to stop that! I have never seen a dog do that. my dog tried to eat her poop, but she never brings it to me. maybe she thinks she is doing something good? maybe try to tell her no and condition her like that?
