Anyone use the LI distribution center post office (I think its called Western Nassau post office) on Stewart Ave in Garden City for their invites? I used this PO for my STDs and it was great. Almost everyone got them the Next Day – I think cause it’s a distribution center it cuts down on some of the time. Anyway I was there today to ask them if I can hand cancel my invites when I bring them in later this week. They said to just bring the invites in a box with a note on top that I need them to get hand cancelled and the post office will hand cancel them for me. Has anyone ever done this before, either at this specific PO or at any PO? Just curious. I don’t know whether to trust that they will actually hand cancel them or not.

they let me and FH hand cancel them ourselves. other girls on here left them and i haven't heard any problems with that. but i would feel more comfortable doing it myself.

at the PO in the city on 8th ave... the HUGE ONE... they just took my bag and did the hand cancelling themselves... at the smaller post offices... they stood there and did them in front of me.
Both were done and both got there pretty rappidly... I trust that they will hand cancel them, you can always send one to yourselves to make sure they did it...

thats a good idea. i think ill do that. am i crazy that i dont 100% trust that they will be hand cancelled? ive never had a problem with this PO before i just think its weird that someone else will hand cancel when i said to the guy that i would do it. i guess it all depends who's there when i drop them off later this week..

I was totally nervous too... and I was like ummmmm ok??? You do it then... hahha
But I went to my mothers to see her invite and sure enough... it was hand canceled.

I didn't do it there, but I did have the PO in NYC hand cancel them for me. I had issues with 8 being returned for more postage (and the rest were all delivered) -- but that's b/c the post office *****. That wasn't a hand canceling issue either b/c all were canceled.
They'll do it and it'll be fine. They do it all the time.

I did it myself
I have heard HORROR stories about when the PO 'hand cancels them for you' ... I don't want to sound mean to the PO but I don't trust them as far as I can throw them!
A friend was told that hers would be hand canceled by the PO and they were almost destroyed b/c they fed them through this machine and ripped all of her envelopes!!!
Another person (Vin's family member) had her stamp literally COVERED and almost ripped off b/c the 'PO hand canceled them'
So, today as a matter of fact, I went and did it myself at my local PO.
Just be careful-- maybe what they are saying is legit but I wanted to tell you b/c I have heard some bad experiences and didn't want that happening to you.

Also, another reason why I don't believe them sometimes: I was told that the new stamps would be out June 1st, then June 13th, then June 27th and the latest: in mid July!!!!
