Post pics of homemade petal cones!!!

Ok, I started doing these using doilies. They are cute but kind of plain. So I'm looking for other ideas. Thanks in advance!

Re: Post pics of homemade petal cones!!!

i saw in michales by gartner studios petal cones...the kit includes 20 6x6 inch pieces of paper with holes punched in them and ribbon to tie the cones together. i saw that and decided that i will make them. i am looking for the sales when 12x12 inch scrapbooking paper is 5 for a dollar...then i will cut each piece into squares, 4 squares to one piece of paper...then i will punch the holes and tie together...i saw the doily ones in martha stewart but found the doily too delicate.

Funny you say that about the doily being delicate. It doesn't seem too delicate to work with but it seems too delicate to hold. They seem like they may be hard for people to handle, like they will crush easily.

M&M2004, those are very pretty. What did it say on the inside? And, how did you make them?

Very beautiful! Did you have a poem written inside?

Re: Post pics of homemade petal cones!!!

The cones had our names, the date of the wedding and a love related quote inside (I forget which one now - I think it was ...

'To love is not to look at one another but to look together in the same direction' by Antoine De Saint Exupery

Using a graphics program (Print Master) I made a circle with a four inch diameter.

I then added in our names along the top and placed the date and quote underneath that.

Printed the circles out on Silver Sparkle cover stock weight paper and cut out the circles.

I then bent the circles into a cone shape and stapled them in the middle where the edges met. I covered the staple with the faux wax seal.

Using a scalloped edge decorative scissor, I cut along the edge right above our names to give it a nice finish.

I tried using doilies but they just got crushed when I pout them in the basket and they didn't stick together using double-sided tape.
