This is a day everyone will never forget...especially us New Yorkers.
My uncle is in the FDNY and he didn't work that day but was supposed to. He lost 15 men in his firehouse including the hero who worked for him that morning.
I will never forget watching from across the river in the conference room the second plane hitting the tower and then both towers falling.
It was a very scary day.
Today I will keep everyone in my prayers weather wheather you lost someone or not, it is a very emotional day and I hope everyone has a 'good' day!!!

My deepest sympathy goes out to EVERYONE affected on this day who has lost someone they love!
I was on a plane out of NY that morning when we had to emergency land. I will never forget walking off that airplane and the whole airport was in complete silence.. looking up at the tv monitors.. Crying, sobbing, and in complete disarray! Many strangers were hugging and consoling one another to help one another. One of the saddest days of our lives.
I pray for all families of 9/11 and all people of the USA!! MAY WE NEVER FORGET 9/11!!

Time does nothing for me. Everyone says that time heals and takes away the pain but it has done nothing. Five years feels like five minutes. I was lucky enough to not know anyone personally who passed away that day but I feel there is a hole in my heart forever for my City. New York is and always will be my home and to think that it could be attacked is sickening. I see my brother and father (who are policemen) in the faces of all those brave rescue workers. I see my cousin (who is a firefighter) in the faces of all the firemen that day. I see my fellow New Yorkers in the faces of the victims that day and I see myself in each and every victim... just an innocent person either going to work or going about their business. It's something that I will never, ever forget and the pain I feel for others who are so deeply affected by 9/11 will always be there.

God Bless America and all of it's loyal citizens. We will never forget those lost that day and the families/loved ones of those who passed away. I will always be so thankful for the brave troops who are over in the Middle East fighting for our freedom and fighting against terrorism and senseless hatred. I look forward to one day living without a sense of fear but it won't come easy-- we need to stay strong and united. Then, we will have peace and then we will be able to ensure a safer world for our children... 'Hope is a key word in the vocabulary of men and women like myself and so many others who discovered in America the strength to overcome cynicism and despair. Remember the legendary Pandora's box? It is filled with implacable, terrifying curses. But underneath, at the very bottom, there is hope. Now as before, now more than ever, it is waiting for us.' -E. Weisel

This article brings me some sense of hope and comfort

Thanks Nina, you know that day will never be forgotten and I have two reasons to remember it. The first being Peter's older brother being in 2 WTC on that day. Thankfully he got out safe, but I will always remember the fear I felt until I saw his face in front of me at my office on 8th Ave. & 36th street(he walked up to me). Secondly, because of that day my baby, Peter, had to spend 11 1/2 months in Iraq and thankfully again God brought him home to me. That was even harder because everyday I had watch attacks on our troops on TV and just hope and pray I would see his beautiful face in front of me again (thank God he is home). I already went to church and lit a candle for everyone today. I couldn't start my day without doing so. Please everyone just say a little pray for all the lives lost on that day and everyday since in Iraq & Afaganistan because of Sept. 11th.

Thanks for posting this

Today, I will pray for the souls of those we have lost and for the families they left behind.

Pray for the heroes that gave their lives and those that continue to do so in our wars on terror.

Pray for those that gave their health in the clean up effort.

We will never forget all of the sacrifices that were made.

Re: Posting Tributes to 9/11-Never Forget.

My heart and prayers go out to everyone who lost someone five years ago on this day - they say time heals all wounds but time will never fill the void that we've been left with since that tragic morning. I'll never forget the moment i saw the first plane hit - i was a sophomore in college on my way to an early philosophy class and had just gotten off the A train that ran underground Tower 1. I was crossing the street when out of the blue i heard a noise and a tremor that i will remember forever...from that point on my life changed. I finally reached my mom on someone's cell phone after a few hours and the fear i heard in her voice made me understand that she thought she would never hear my voice again. I took a year off from school after that day - i just couldn't handle being there after all that had happened. Fast forward 5 years and today i consider myself one of the lucky ones ...
Today I will pray for all those that lost their lives unjustly
I will pray for those who showed courage and heroism and put their lives at risk to save others
I will pray for the families, friends and loved ones of those who passed that day
and I will pray for all of us - that we keep this day alive in our hearts forever and that we never forget!

Re: Posting Tributes to 9/11-Never Forget.

Years have come and gone,
Since the towers came down...
Yet nothing is settled,
No peace to be found.

Seems like the efforts,
Made to this date,
Cannot resolve,
Our grief and our fate.

There are still questions there,
With no answers yet found,
Though grass replaces
The rubble from the ground.

The grief that we feel,
Is still fresh and so strong,
Despite all the 'answers'
For what really went wrong.

It seems that the mourning,
Is greater today,
That time does not heal,
Nor make it go way.

911 was a wakeup,
To a nation off guard,
Grief is not easy,
Forgiveness is hard.

So that each day now passes,
With no end in sight,
We remain in our mourning,
Still sealed with that plight.

We pray for the peace,
That only healing brings,
Proudly tell the rest of the world,
That Freedom still rings.

Re: Posting Tributes to 9/11-Never Forget.

Reading this thread gives me the chills, makes me sad, and makes me cry.

I never thought in a million years that something like this would ever happen - but it did.

I will never forget that day. I was driving to school (NYIT) and it just so happened that my radio in my car didn't work - and i didnt get it fixed yet. I just listened to CD's not having a clue what was going on. I went to school and heard what happened and I was just in shock. I still cry everytime I think of that day. The fear and pain that I felt wondering if anyone I knew was Ok was just horrible. The fear that my FH was alive was so scary.

I pray for all the families that have lost someone, for all the firemen and police officers that were strong enough to help , and I pray for all of us Americans to continue to be proud of our country!

I,also, was several blocks away that day. I will never forget the horror, the panic or the smell that lingered for weeks after the towers fell. It seems like yesterday. It amazes me sometimes to think that 19 pieces of garbage changed our world forever. My prayers and thoughts go out the everyone tofay. We were all somehow effected.
