FH and I have had many heart-to-heart talks about money, and there just isn't any way we can have the wedding HE wants with the money WE have right now. He won't consider City Hall or something really small. So we've decided to postpone the wedding until further notice.Am I upset? Yeah. I've embarrassed myself way too many times with vendors and dress shops when I tell them I want them on this date, but I don't have the money for the deposit. I've saved and saved as much as I can, but I can never save enough because FH has a bad spending habit.
I'm also relieved because I can get on with my life. Read a book, go to a movie, buy new shoes because I need them for everyday life, not for the wedding. We're not breaking up, but we're just not getting married anytime soon.
That being said, the Swan Club's Garden Room is available 3/15/14. We didn't put down a deposit yet, but they were holding it for us until the end of the month to get the deposit in. It's now up for grabs.

So sorry you're going through this! I think you made the right decision though. You should wait until you're financially ready, weddings are expensive and you're being very mature and responsible by recognizing the need to hold off. Now you can both enjoy the engagement! Best of luck to you both. xoxo

So sorry to hear
BUT, it's better to postpone things and save money to do what you both want to do than to put yourself in so much debt that you'll be spending your marriage trying to get out of it and potentially resenting getting married too soon. Best of luck!

No one wants to take out a loan for a wedding. It's just not worth it. You guys made the best decision to wait. I'm actually jealous that you get to go shoe shopping!Best of luck to you two!

Sorry to hear of the postponement. But know you made the right decision to wait to you are financially able to. Thankfully that's why me and FH chose a later date because we just couldn't afford it sooner. It's better to start your married life off financially stable than in debt.I wish you and your FH the best in your future endeavors.

I'm sorry to hear this, but I think you made a great decision. There's no way you can enjoy this wonderful time in your life if you are stressing about money. I hope you have only fabulous things happen from this point forward!!Also, maybe look for one of those wedding contests where you win an all expenses paid wedding!! A girl I know did it, where you have to get the most votes, and her entire wedding is being paid for!! It's worth a shot, and I'm sure if you did it and posted the link to this site, everyone would vote for you guys!

I know somebody who won a wedding also! At the sands.. I think she won for a 100 person wedding (so they have to pay for the guests over that but it cuts half the cost!!)
So sorry to hear this but you have to do what's right!!!

I'm sorry to hear that. My fiance and I postponed our wedding as well because of a few reasons, finances being the main one. I had to move everything and pay some change the date fees. It is good that you decided to post pone before you put any money down. You are making the best decision for you and your family and there is nothing to be embarrassed about. I felt the same way you did at first and I had a vendors tell me that it happens a lot more than you think! :) Good luck!

Sorry to hear. It is very stressful thinking about all of the financial aspects of the wedding. I'm hoping my FH and I have enough money for our wedding.

I'm so sorry to hear but like kaw2be said it is a smart decision. Too many of my friends put themselves in ridiculous debt trying to pay for the wedding. Best of luck!!!!!!!
