So for financial reasons as well as the fact that my MOH has cancer, FH and i are most likely postponing our wedding by a year. I am devastated by this and feel like it shouldnt be this big of a deal. But its really bothering me. Have any of you had to do this?

Sorry to hear..though we have not postponed our wedding..a year will fly by. It will give you more time to focus on everything else going on. It also gives you time to save more $$

I´m actually in the process of deciding to postpone the wedding. Everyone is telling me not to but there are so many reasons that we should. I am so confused as to what to do. But I agree that a year will go by quickly. don´t let it bum you out too much.

We got engaged in November 2006 and were originally going to get married in 2008. We didn't book anything but realized that in order to do what we wanted we had to wait another year so we could afford it. It was well worth it! Good luck!

the main reason we have had a long engagement is so we can save for vendors. don't worry you will have your wedding and i'm sure it will be beautiful!

i have postponed mine to May 28,2010 from Dec 4,2009. We had to help FH's parents with some major money issues so thats why we postponed it...to help them out.......in a way im glad because May is a beautiful time to get married....ended up costing us more....but whatevers....lol...more time to save now....although it is really creeping up quick!

I've postponed mine to Nov 27,2010 from Nov 26, 2008. we wanted to but a house and $$ was a big factor. So enjoy the engagement. You are not alone.

We were planning on getting married this October but pushed it back until next October to make sure we had enough money for everything.
I am so sorry. Postponing it may be a good idea for you two so you can enjoy your engagement and not be too stressed about so many things.

So sorry to hear your MOH has cancer... I hope she makes a full recovery. As for financial issues, you are probably better off postponing until you can have your day they way you both want it to be. This is give you more time to fine tune the details, have less stress and probably avoid many fights with your FH over money or stress relating to the planning. I don't think its a big deal unless you booked everything...usually it won't be so bad if you reschedule with the same vendor though...and they have the new date available.

Sorry to hear about your postponing your wedding. I am so sorry about your MOH! Hope she kicks cancer in the a$$. Wedding plans mean nothing when someone close to you is sick. Best wishes to you, your FH and your MOH.

Yes i was supposed to get married July 25, 2009.... save the dates and invitations were already sent out and some of out town people even had their plane tickets already. We realized in june that we just weren't going to be able to have everything paid up.... so we decided to postpone the wedding until next Sept. Planning a wedding is very hard, stressful and expensive. I have had so much time to re-think things and i am happy that we decided to postpone the wedding because now i can have the wedding that i really want without all the stress. We were doing major renovations to our house and planning a wedding at the same time and financially it wasn't working paying for both. Good thing is our house it finished all 3 floors thanks to prayer!!!! and our wedding will be in Sept 2010. Please don't be too stressed and pray about it. All your friends and family will understand even your bridesmaids and groosmen that already spent money!!!! because you are not canceling the wedding you are just postponing it. All of my vendors were very understanding and accommodating and they just changed the date without charging me a fee, Only thing is we just booked with a different reception hall. Sorry about your MOH, I hope she does ok. My 4 year old nephew is a year away from being in remission, so I know how hard it is. He's one of my ringbearers! But don't worry, the people who love you will understand and will be there with you, no matter when your wedding date is.

do what you have to do! dont worry abt what ppl are going to say or anything! If you feel its better to postpone then DO IT! I know it sux to wait longer but if its gonna be better then go for it! Time flies anyway!

We postponed from 10.31.2009 to 10.30.2010. I was laid off for 6 months and a snowball of bad things just kept occurring so we decided to post-pone. I am glad we did because there is no way we would have been able to pull off a wedding this year.
Does it and did it upset me? Yes very much. I was at a bridal shower yesterday and even though I love the girl and am so happy for her I was jealous because mine should have been this month too.
Its a hard decision and my ball busting family doesn't make it any easier but we just keep asking them, are they paying for it. If you give us 30K we will get married on our original date.
