Re: Pots- Nonstick or stainless???

Anybody ever have trouble with their stainless pots getting, well, stained? I have two very high end pots that look a little tarnished/discolored and I don't use anything abrasive on them.

Any suggestions?

Use Barkeeper's Friend - it gets spots off of stainless.

on the inside? put some some water in it, about one inch, then put some dishwashing soap in it (NOT lemon) . Boil it, then open some windows and simmer it for about 15 minutes. Let cool in the pan. Mostly comes right off. You can also use vinegar, but use more of it.

Got this out of the manual for my Cuisinart set.

Re: Pots- Nonstick or stainless???

we got stainless b/c we've found they cook better. however, that said, we did add a couple of non stick, like a frying pan and grill for the purpose of making eggs. i have heard some things about non stick and how chemicals can seep into the food if there are scrathces in the pan. but as far as cleaning the stainless, i put water in the pan/pot, like nadine said and add some dish soap and put it on low and that helps clean up a lot!!!
