PR from BHB boards: How much do you lose if you cancel CLM reception?

As some of you may know, I'm thinking of cancelling my reception at CLM due to a very high number of 'no's'. Not cancelling the wedding, just the party.

Does anyone know how it works with the $? I looked at the contract and it doesn't say anything about what the financial responsiblity is. I'm sure we'll lose our deposit, but would we be responsible for the whole cost based on the minimum number?

Thanks

My contract says:
More than six months - credit for all deposits actually paid plus $500 bookkeeping.

Any cancellations received les sthen six months prior will forfeit all deposits unless a new function of equal or greater value is booked, in which case a credit will be issued for deposits actually paid less a $500 bookkeeping fee.

Credits are valued for a period of 3 years from cancellations to be applied towards a newly contracted function. Credits can not be applied to taxes, services, service charges or previously booked affairs.

No. 20 on the back fo the contract.

How many no's do you have? My min. for the upstairs room in March was 80... why don't you make a appointment in person and inform them of a problem. They will probably try to work something out as best as possible I am sure.

isn't there some sort of law in Suffolk when you cancel? Something about being able to get your money back to a certain degree? I don't want to get your hopes up but I would swear I've read something like that....

Good luck!!

honestly i would just go ahead with the party---your folks will lose SOO much money if you cancel now.

tell friends that they can bring another friend or two---or even have an LIW table--FM some of the brides that you chat with on here and ask them to come.

basically you are going to lose just about every dime of what you have paid to CLM and they might even demand the remainder of the contract for cancelling so close to the date---i would just go for it.

Basically that law is to protect you if you change your mind a month after you book and i think that is all you get a month or two after booking. Not sure though.

Yea I know you have posted about it but really how much do you have as a yes now and how much is your min?

Fh and I really thought hard when we booked our place thinking not many people were going to show for us. I mean we have too many distant relatives ( life far away) and we don't talk to ever so we figure they wouldn't show so our min was 80 and we are up to a 147 on our list. We think and hope that 100 will show. If not 80 is cool. I mean they can put you upstairs or they can put you in the chapel. They had a baby shower down there one day that I saw... and it was really nice.
