Prayers needed please!

so sorry to hear that, you and your family are in my prayers.

I got a call from my mother a little while ago with some bad news. Apparently, he's suffering from some sort of dementia now. He doesn't know where he is, and thinks he's either in summer camp, or a restaurant. My mother warned me, and told me it might be best not to visit him tonight. He's very testy as well.
They're not sure if it's that he hasn't had a drink since Thursday and it's some sort of withdrawl (he drinks daily), or if there is a blockage in his brain.
But, the good news is that his heart is getting stronger and he'll be going in for surgery either Tuesday or Wednesday.

sigh.....poor guy. I feel so badly for him....and for my poor grandmother.

That is so awful, I feel so sad for your whole family. That must have been awful for your grandmother, keep us posted on how they are doing. Good Luck

Quick story about my uncle to see that miracles of a sort can happen...

He had a massive heart attack in Early Sept. last year, he was 200 lbs over weight and his lungs were functioning at less then 15% due to water build up...He was flown to LIJ and they said no-one would operate on him, he was too bad off, too unstable, he needed quadruplae bypass..and his chances of surving the surgery was less then 5%. They sent him home with meds to get his heart stronger in hopes of surgery. In December he had another massive heart attack.
He was put in ICU , in life support and on Dec. 22 They told us he would probably make it only till Christmas....

Long story short, he did make it...there was not a DR. on LI who would operate on him due to his issues and being too weak. He was put on a TON of medication, he lost 100 lbs in 6 months and 8 months after the two heart attacks, his heart was functioning at almost 97% and his lungs at 100%. He would pace the house to excersise.

They sent him home to die and he NEVER had surgery and he just got back from a 5 day hunting trip.

So the moral of my long story is, I know believe to NEVER let a bad thought about what 'could' happen enter your mind...If you believe it wont and stay as positive as possible, amazing things can happen.

He's already been through this before, and he cheated death that time, so we all know miracles can happen! His heart actually stopped and they got it started again!
Unfortunately, that was over 20 years ago, and he's now nearing 80 years old...so time takes it's toll.

When I saw him though, i got a strong sense that he is not ready to go yet.....there was too much life in him still - his eyes showed that he's still young at heart...even if his body is weakinging. So I believe, in my heart, that he will survive this too.

Besides, he has to stick around to see whatever grandchildren I can come up with! There's no way i can explain him to them - they have to experience him for themselves!!!
