Prayers please...sorry this is a bit long **UPDATE**
Original post by JoesFutureWife
**UPDATE** Ladies, i cant thank you enough for your well wishes, thoughts and prayers. They have worked once again! My fathers surgery was a complete success and he is feeling so much better. It's like a massive weight has been lifted. Thank you all again so much for everything!!
It seems like every few months i have to post one of these. Once again it is in reference to my dad. Tonight he was out picking up ice cream from friendlys, which is something we never really have anymore, he didnt have his cell and next thing we know we get a call from him from a ladys cell (who was an angel for offering for him to use her phone) that he was having heart racing and chest pains. We flew over to friendlys and i called an ambulance which was there in 2 minutes flat. It was so bad this time. They almost had to use the paddles to get his heart rate back on track. Tomorrow they are doing a procedure where they will have to go into his heart to fix the 'electrical wiring' as the cardiologist put it. He has fantastic doctors working on him but it is still scary all the same. I have to be at work in 6.5 hrs and teach tomorrow. I really dont know how im going to get thru the day. I am leaving at 2 tomorrow so im hoping i make it in time for the procedure (they said mid to late afternoon). Unfortunately because i just started this job, i cannot take off. I literally dont have a # to call to call in. Please pray for my dad. He is the best father i could have ever asked for. ty

Oh Wow! My prayers are with your dad. I think I might know the procedure and it's not too bad. Just keep a positive attitude.

My dad had this happen a few years ago and he had to get a defribulator put in to regulate his heart beat. I hope that's all your dad needs too

You must have been so scared. I use to be in the medical field. It sounds like your dad is going to have an 'ablation' tomorrow. It's a fairly routine procedure and many times correct the problem. What happens is that the hearts electrical pathways grow a few more pathways or pathyways to wrong parts of the heart causing excess electrical impulse signals and makes the heat go into an arrythmia (irregulat heart beat) SOunds like he might have gone into an SVT (supraventricular tachycardia) which the medics in the field usually try to fix with an IV medicine first and if that doesn't work than they need to 'cardiovert' them which is when they use the paddles, it basically reboots the electrical system of the heart, kinda how you reboot the computer.
Anyways, after all this medical jargon (I thought maybe you would want some backround), the procedure is fairly routine and hopefully will fix the problem!

My father has the exact same problem and has been in the hospital for it several times over the last few years. He has had two procedures done to fix this and the last one they did was pretty successful. I will say a prayer for your Dad, I know he will be fine though!
