I think I'll feel the same way once ours is over -- it's a weekend thing also.

Part of me is really looking forward to it though!

Re: Pre Cana.......

FYI: I found a Precana that is offered in ONE long day from 8:30am-about 5pm @ Lady of Lourdes in Massepequa Park, LI. It is also only $100 - they offer it once a month - Dates coming up are: Feb. 21st, March 21st, and April 25 - on Saturdays. - Def. beats more than one day and 300 bucks for most of them!

Re: Pre Cana.......

Ive heard different things about pre cana...some moving stories ...others were just 'glad its done.
At my precana class we were 1 of 40 couples in a room. Day one was ok. It was a young married couple talking about the best times and pitfalls in their marriage. (finance, children, communication etc). This day was not bad b/c you heard actual stories of everyday issues and it was down to earth discussions.

Day 2 was with a guy talking about sex and reciting (sp) the bible. He also mentioned the no nos about birth control, safe sex and other stuff that was waaaaaayyyyy off. - both classes were 5 hrs long...4 hours too long for me. lol

anyway...i had to get this out of the way soon

hmmm interesting, i didnt have what you did on the 2nd day. I know MIL said they had a dr. or somebody come talk about sex and talking about religion alot and i told her we didnt do any of that. Our host couple brought this up too and said most places dont do that anymore.

The way we had it was first day which was a friday we went and they did a mass and deacon spoke to us for a little bit and we were there about an hour or an hour and a half.

2nd day-we were in an auditorium with somewhere between 30-40 couples. We had a host couple and they talked about all aspects of marriage such as kids, fights, IL's, sex, communication and so on. We also did quizzes on our own to answer to see how well we know eachother and then we would exchange the paper with eachother just to review with ourselves. The couple also spoke about sex, but i have to say not much about religion. Well i also did interfaith pre-cana so maybe thats why but all they said was as long as you believe in something dont let the differences come between eachother. I loved our couple. We also had an hour lunch break and 4 breaks but thats bc it was from 9-5 but we got out an hour early

Hey Denise....how are ya??

see..your pre cana was different than mine. Ive heard that pre cana puts the meaning of marriage into perspective and makes you think about things in different ways. The classes are held by a couple or priest and in a way i was looking forward to it. Mine was nothing like it. Day 1 w/ the couple was not bad b/c they were not the cookie cutter couple 'were in love and happy go lucky happily ever after' they were a real couple, with normal issues, they were very much in love and talked about things they've experienced and how they dealt w/ those issues. Yes part of those sessions, we would talk amoungst ourselves about what would we do in certain situations.

Now day 2 --that was an experience. I didn't agree w/ the whole thing and it was almost brain washing you about 'what you're supposed to do AFTER you get married in the bedroom' Hello....like none of your business!!!! - At that point, i wanted to get my certificate and outta there.

I did meet a really nice couple....we had a few laughs, that was the cool part of it.
