Is your church requiring new Baptism Certificates for the wedding? I don't get it, why isn't the originals enough?

Re: Pre Cana and New Baptism Certificates
Yes we have to as well... all you have to do is call the Church where you were baptized and ask for an updated certificate and they'll mail it to you.... I was also told by my Church, that it has to be dated 6 months before the wedding... just thought I'd let you know....

Because apparently every time you make a sacrament it's notated on your baptismal certificate. So when you get married the church wants to get a copy to make sure you weren't married before! If you were it would show up there!
Good luck and Happy Planning!

it's not 'new' it's an updated baptismal certificate..
in other words onthe back of your updated cert. it'll list all your other sacraments and the dates that you did them..

Re: Pre Cana and New Baptism Certificates
I thought it was strange too, but its because your baptism cert has your history of sacraments on it. So the new one I got, had my communion and confirmation dates. And now I guess it would have my wedding date as well.
I think they want to make sure you had the sacraments and haven't been married before.
