pre-wedding wedding gifts
OK, ladies, help me figure this one out. Lately wedding gifts have started arriving at our house. I've been opening them, mostly because up until last week people were still sending engagement gifts/shower gifts, etc. But now the cards say things like 'Have a wonderful life' so I know they're wedding presents.Anyway, FH thinks we should not be opening these gifts or sending thank you notes until after the wedding. But I thought I was supposed to send thank-yous within a few weeks of the gift's arrival. If I wait until our photo thank-yous are ready, these people will be getting notes two months after sending a gift. Am I missing some big etiquette point? Should I not be opening the gifts or mailing thank yous?

Re: pre-wedding wedding gifts
there was another post on this recently.i would open them. send a thank you for the gift immediately. if the person that sent the gift is going to your wedding, then, i would send them a photo thank you - thanking them for attending the wedding.

Re: pre-wedding wedding gifts
to satisfy you both since you wedding is only a month away i would write up the thank you notes and put them in the mail right after your wedding.. you could even ask someone to do this for you while you are on your honeymoon... but I would deffinatly not wait for the picture thank yous to send something (that takes too much time).. then you could always send them a picture thank you when they come in if you want.....-tami

Re: pre-wedding wedding gifts
Ditto on Jenn. If you are planning on doing a photo TY then you canresend a second one thanking them for attending. otherwise, all gifts should be opened and acknowledged as a way for people to know they were received. Registry deliveries get screwed up all the time and that way peopl stay on top of it.Welcome New Vendors
