So over the wknd FH and I completed our Pre-Cana. It was a long and intense two days, but so educational! We really learned a lot about each other and what is to be expected from us through out our marraige. The whole experience just made me feel that much closer to FH.
I would have posted about this sooner - but I'm trying to take a break from the boards on wknds. I'm nervous I'll turn wedding obsessed!

Congrats on the check! FH and I aren't getting married in a church but I would love to do a precana type class anyway just to have that experience.

We basically took a crash course in one day which I highly recommend if you want to just bang it out. The whole thing basically taught you about how to have a successful marraige. It was great! The best part was at one point the deacon made us face eachother and do our vows! This was really special b/c FH and I will be saying our own vows so it's nice to have been able to look at him and say the real ones. I cried (of course).

I wish ours was a two-day! That's what all my friends have done as well. Mine starts this week and its every Friday for 2 hours until the end of May. I'd rather do it all in one day!

Congrats! We also did Pre-Cana in one weekend and while I'm so glad it's done, the whole experience was really not as bad as we had anticipated. The couple who ran it was WONDERFUL and you really felt comfortable with them.

Can anyone recommend a church that does precana in 1 day? Mine doesn't! Preferably in Nassau County...let me know!

My issue is that I am Jewish and my FH is catholic. My FH actually have a priest in the family who is doing half of our interfaith wedding. We were told that there are interfaith Precana. I am not sure how this works but we will see! How soon in advance do we have to do this? Should I call and talk to the church or should I ask my FH (he does 0 of the planning)

My priest told me around the one year mark would be ok but a little early. So we are doing it next march for our October wedding because that's when my church has it.

I'm Catholic and my FH is Jewish and we went to interfaith Precana. I was a little worried at first because I didn't want him to feel uncomfortable, but he actually ended up liking it! At least in my experience, the focus was on the marriage, NOT religion. The only mention of religion was actually ways in which to keep God present in your marriage, but that's applicable across religions. We had speakers talk about appropriate ways of disagreeing/arguing, natural family planning, finances, and a whole bunch of practical topics. We also completed the FOCCUS survey before we went and talked about the results (only between you and your FH). HTH!
