That is a normal price. We looked around too. We had MANY problems with my church and ended up just cancelling and getting married at the hall. Our church would have had Pre-Cana included except that there was not enough couples to do it, so they cancelled it. Good luck to you.

we just paid our 250 through the RVC dioscese. fh can't take any sessions at night due to work, so we opted for a sat & sun 9-4 in august. we had no choice.

We went to our precana on April 30th. We are getting married in Queens so we had to pay the ArchDiocese of Brooklyn-Queens and register with them. We attended the one day 9-4 class on a Saturday at the archdiocese center in Douglaston. It was $150 for this session and we had to register 2 months in advance. This does not include the $300 donation the church requires.
Hope this helped....

Because your inquiring at the Diocese, they do the 1 day course there and it costs $250. If you inquire at your local church and attend their 'in house' precana, it usually runs under $100. Is the rockville center church your local church?

ETP - the difference being the local churches spread them out into 4-6 meetings while the diocese does it in one day.

The diocese doesn't even have 1 day, it's 2 full days from 9-4!!! And if you do the weekend, its $350!

We are going to the one with the diocese next weekend at Kellenberg. It was $250 regardless if I choose the 2 day weekend session or spread it out over several weeks (not an option for us).

my SIL sent me this link, it's in Brooklyn and Queens, $150 for 1 Saturday.

Good Luck everyone! I am still calling around for something less $$$$.

And to answer the previous question, my church isn't charging me anything, just a donation that is up to me, so I will give $200.

My church is St. Francis De Sales in Patchogue.. we paid 35 dollars for five sessions ( I believe) and it was through someone's home...

I think that is what they do charge for weekend classes though...

good luck!!

We did our precana with st. agnes and we only paid $75. As far as the actual wedding is concerned, it is $250 for the music and then an additional $250 'donation' to the church. They are right not that much more than other churches are charging to be married. Good luck and if you have any more questions dont hesitate to ask.

I just sent in a check for $225 today, we're doing it through St. Thomas the Apostle, which is our officiant's parish. It's a Saturday evening and then Saturday 9-4.

wow, sorry to hear that...my church does their own pre-cana as well, it was 4 2-3 hour sessions at a 'certified' couple's house. We actually did it in 3 sessions, it was very relaxing and we actually walked away feeling it was worth it...and happy to say that it was free. My church doesn't have that many weddings in a year, so they are too happy, literally when young couples come in with a 'donation'.
