Precana help, this is so ridiculous!

Hi Ladies,

First of all, no one at the RVC Diocese EVER returns phone calls. Second, they charge $250!!!!!!

Everyone is telling me they never paid that much and I should check around.....Soooooooo, where did you guys go, and how much was it????

Thanks,
Gina

I did it through the Archdiocese of Brooklyn and we paid $200 (but don't quote me on it). I did find it a lot, it was for the one day class.

My church does their own. It was $50 for like 6 weekly sessions of about 1.5 hrs long. We met at a couple's house every week.

I hear RVC does it all in one day.

Because your inquiring at the Diocese, they do the 1 day course there and it costs $250. If you inquire at your local church and attend their 'in house' precana, it usually runs under $100. Is the rockville center church your local church?

ETP - the difference being the local churches spread them out into 4-6 meetings while the diocese does it in one day.

We had the same trouble! We ended up siging up for the one at the church we're getting married at (St. Aloysius for $50, 1 full Saturday), but it's 2 weeks before the wedding!!! They gave us a little trouble about it being so close to the wedding day, but we really had no other choice. They really do make the pre-cana thing tough!!!

I am also having trouble too. We could not make our own churches precana and now RVC wants the same thing..It is so much..If I wait to take it at my church will it still be that much? I called them and I don't think the priest understood.

My local church will not take us because they said they were too full with the people actually getting married at that church...yeah right. So they told me to contact the diocese. This whole thing is such a runaround!

We are getting married at my local church upstate, not too convenient, so the search continues!

My church is in the Diocese of RVC, but the PreCana is free. It is three nights of about 2 to 2.5 hours each in the couples home. However, it costs about $400 to pay for the Officiant to do the ceremony. So they get you somehow.

The diocese doesn't even have 1 day, it's 2 full days from 9-4!!! And if you do the weekend, its $350!

TJS and I went through St. Sylvester's where we are getting married. It was free, however we do have to pay for the church the day of our wedding... I think it's something around $500 plus we have to pay for the organist $150

Are you paying $250 for pre cana or for the marriage in the church? if the 250 is just for pre cana, then that is definitely RIDICULOUS. my church charged $75 for pre cana fees, we met in someone's house on Sundays and it was great. the fee to get married in the church is then around $500, hope this helps.
