One of my bridesmaid just found out she is two months pregnant. She will be six months for my wedding. I didn't want any pregnant woman in my wedding. What are your thoughts on this? I don't think the groomsmen will be comfortable walking in with a six month pregnant woman. Do I tell her it's okay to not be in my wedding or should I let it be?

Re: Preganant bridesmaid ?
Why does it bother you? I can't imagine that the GM would mind. I know my FH's friends would make sure the preg. BM had all the water and anything else she needed!

Re: Preganant bridesmaid ?
maybe you can let her make the decision if she still wants to be a bm. she might decide that she is uncomfortable with the situation.

What is wrong with a pregnant bridesmaid? You should be happy for your friend to be pregnant and not kick her out of her bridal party. (If she wants out on her own accord, thats another thing.) Just like having a 'big' bridesmaid she won't ruin your pictures or spoil your day. You chose her for a reason, and should be supportive. There are plenty of dresses that have styles that will accomodate a 6 month pregnancy. I don't think the groomsman will care that he walks with a pregnant girl...who cares???
I have to agree with this. I've seen too many posts with brides getting upset about one of their BM's being PG and I can't even begin to imagine how offended I'd be if I was planning on being a bridesmaid right now and the bride asked me to step down. That would hurt, especially since PG woman are overly hormonal. I definately think you should let her stay in your party, unless of course SHE wants to step down personally, without any influence from you on her decision.

Re: Preganant bridesmaid ?
Sounds like you are blaming the Groomsmans potential discomfort as a reason to kick her out instead of looking at why YOU don't want her in the wedding.
If the dress is the other thing you want to blame: Ask her to pay for the new/altered dress. I'm sure she won't mind.
Please asses why you really don't want her to be part of your day before putting this on others.
Additional Question: Why is your BP dancing with each other? I have never seen this... Personally, this on it's own would make me uncomfortable - pregnant or not.

Have to agree with this as well. I was a BM in my bro and SIL's wedding and I would've been VERY uncomfortable dancing with a guy I barely even knew. I'm glad I wasn't expected to.

Re: Preganant bridesmaid ?
I have been to many weddings where the bride and groom dance (1st dance) and then they ask the bridal party to join in along with the parents..
FH and I are not doing that..WE are dancing to our first dance alone..NOT asking anyone to join us on the dance floor...
There will be plenty of songs for everyone to dance to....
SO...if you are concerned with the how the GM will feel dancing with a prego woman...THEN have your first dance alone with just you and FH.....
Problem solved

Re: Preganant bridesmaid ?
My MOH is sitting home right now awaiting the birth of her child-- look at my wedding date-- cutting it a little close.. But, to me- it is important that she is there and part of my day- hopefully she'll give birth this week and she can at least make it to the ceremony.
I have to admit, I was very upset, and still a little bit so, when she first told me she was pregnant and when she was due- the week before the wedding-- but, that was only cause I wanted her there-- who gives a flying f*ck if a BM is prego or not.. and, I agree with what I think Bunny wrote-- you seem to overly concerned about the GM-- when you should be concerned with your friend..
The dress is another issue- call the place you got it from and see what they suggest-- from reading these boards-- this happens ALL the time..

Re: Preganant bridesmaid ?
I recently had to pull out of a wedding becuase it is 2 weeks passed my due date - but I was very very upset over it - it was a case of very bad timing and I never meant for it to happen.
If I was only 6 mo. pregnant I would have never pulled out. My thought is I was asked to be a BM based on my relationship with the bride or groom - not based on my fertility status.
To be honest I am horrified that you would want her out of your wedding just because of her pregnancy - I would question how close you two are or why you asked her to be a bm in the first place?
On your big day - you should want those with you and standing beside you that mean the most to you - not based on anything else.
eta: as a pregnant woman I am a little offended that you thikn your GM wouldnt want to dance with a pregnant BM - WHY NOT?? becuase she will have a belly? please!

Re: Preganant bridesmaid ?
Since you already asked her to be a BM i would let her make the choice about being in the wedding or not.you asked her for a reason ..if she does not feel comfy being in the bp. im sure she would tell you ...
the last few weddings i went to the 1st dance was just the bride and groom they did not ask the bp or any of the guest to join in..so maybe you can do something like that
good luck

I never liked when BP's danced with each other. They all look so uncomfy - especially if they don't know each other. I won't be doing that or the arch the BP makes for the bride and groom to walk under.. I don't like that either.

My MOH was 6 months pregnant, and she was absolutely beautiful. The GM didn't mind a bit, and we actually very good to her- they teased her and made her feel great.

Re: Preganant bridesmaid ?
My sister (Matron of Honor) is pregnant and her due date is 2-3 weeks before my wedding. (Who knows--she may even give birth on our wedding day!!!) We're not sure if she will feel up to being in the BP so soon after the baby is born, but we agreed that she should buy her dress and then make a decision that day. She may just feel up to attending the ceremony and forgoing the reception. My sister is the Matron and my best friend is the Maid, so I'm covered either way! Though I can't imagine my sister not being there, nor can she, we just won't know until the time draws closer.
BTW, our first dance will be just the two of us w/o BP. We also agreed not to do the arch.

Re: Preganant bridesmaid ?
hmm... i always thought that you ask someone to be a bridesmaid cause they are important to you and you wnt them to share your day with you ---- not because they will look good in pictures and look nice walking in with the groomsmen....
in fact - my friend who i have known since kindergarten, and is one of my bridesmiads is pregnant and her due date is MY WEDDING DAY
we are both hoping that the baby will hold off a day or to so she can be there sharing my day with me ---- and walkling down the aisle and in pictures if she feels well enough to do so
and if the baby comes early - then she may niot be standing there by my side - but will be with me in my heart.....

Re: Preganant bridesmaid ?
I think some girls are missing the point and making me out to me a little immature. Maybe I didn't explain myself correctly.
I DO want my friend in my wedding. That is why I asked her. I don't want her to feel like she has to be in the wedding, if she doesn't want to. I actually don't want her to suffer the day of the wedding, It will be hot, and she will have to walk alot for pictures at the park. I'll let her be the judge. Thanks for all the advise. I appreciate it.

LOL you wouldn't have wanted to dance with my brother? As for the original question, yes, I think it is extremely selfish to not want any pregnant women in your BP. If she decides she wants to step down, that's her decision, but if I were her and you asked me to step down that would end the friendship right there. Put things in perspective a little.

I don't want her to step down. I asked her because I wanted her in my bridal party. I'll make her decide. I just think the groomsmen will feel very uncomfortable having to do the first dance with a preganent woman. We also already order a size 4 dress and I don't think it will fit her by the wedding. Do I order another dress?
Let her worry about her dress--it's not your responsibility. As for the dance, my BP did not dance together and I do not think that is a necessity at all. And if the men are embarassed of walking down the aisle with a pregnant women, well then I think they have larger issues.

Well, as nice as your brother is, it would've been akward, to say the least. Thanks for not making me dance with anybody
