but you need to sit and talk with him... I would definitely agree with you, if FH told me that I would be bothered by it a lot....

Re: Prenup
Nope, we have no need to.
If there property, assets, etc. being brought into a marriage that need to be protected than a prenup may be a good route to go, however, both parties need to feel comfortable.

ITA. We're definitely not signing one since anything we do have, we purchased jointly. That seems a bit harsh though.

Re: Prenup
We're not. However, I can understand why some people would want and/or need one.
Did this issue arise during or shortly after the fight you guys had? Because if that's the case, maybe it needs to be approached when both of you are in a cooler-minded state. It's not something to be taken lightly, and also not something that should be discussed in the heat of an argument, or shortly thereafter.

Re: Prenup
My FH asked me if I wanted one b/c i'm bringing a lot of assets into the marriage. I am not going to do it though.

Re: Prenup
no, but we also have almost an equal amount of student loans and we will eventually be making around the same amount of money.

Re: Prenup
we do not need one! but if I either of you own any property/assets, then I can understand getting one!

Re: Prenup
FH mentioned in once about 5-6 years ago and then again a couple months ago when he was buying an investment property. We fought about it and I don't want to sign one, but I understand his POV because he does have a few investment properties. I'd never take what wasn't mine though. I stand by that. I consider it stealing!
I am trying to ride it out though and hopefully he'll just forget about it all together. I think it's possible.

Re: Prenup
Fh and I discussed it b/c we both bring alot into the marriage. But we decided it wasn't necessary, we trust each other and are in this for good and bad.

I think that he has thought about this before because he brought up something that was said a few months ago. He has investment property and a practice that I guess he wants to protect. The only things we would have jointly would be our house and our bank account. We did talk today when we were both calmer. Its something that has been on his head for a while it seems.
That changes things. Though he definitely could've left out the part about you getting into a fight and running off. Maybe you should consider meeting with an attorney about it.

Re: Prenup
We're not having one because we don't really have money and we have the same benefits so I don't need to protect those. I do have a thought on prenups though. If you love someone and you don't think it's necessary but someone else in the relationship does, then I don't see the harm in getting one. It will either sit in a box and collect dust or it will be used but right now we aren't all thinking about divorce. Does this make sense?
