Preserving/Cleaning your dress

For all those newlyweds, where did you or will you be having your dress cleaned and preserved? I'm suppose to be 'looking into it', but I am all researched out after the wedding planning.

My mom called one of those 1800 places that you ship your dress to, but I get the impression they're pretty expensive, and I'm not sure they're doing anything different...???

They all thought the service was really good and only about $100.

I used a cleaner in Astoria that was recommended to me by my seamstress (Karin Yngvesdotter), it was $70 w/o a box (I have no room for big box right now, but will get it boxed when we move). He did a great job of cleaning and preserving it.

can you wait until after you get home from the honeymoon to get it cleaned? Or do you have to have someone take it over for you before then?

I brought my dress in to be cleaned and preserved a month after the wedding. We brought it to the place where we rented tuxes from since they offered a deal. It only cost me $50.
