price for DJ?

I just started looking for a dj and got some quotes, but I don't know how good the price is. If you don't mind, what is everyone else paying for their dj, and what does it include? I don't want to be ripped off and if I have something to compare to, it would help b/c I am clueless when it comes to prices for a dj! Thanks!

We are paying about $2000 for Tommy's Tunes. We are paying a little extra, I think their basic 5 hour package is about $1500, but we are paying to have a singer at the coctail hour. I can't think of his name right now, but we saw him at a restaurant, and really liked him, he does Frank Sinatra type music and is really great. Anyway, we found out you can book him through Tommy's tunes it was a little expensive, but we thought it would be a nice touch especially since we have a varied age group at the wedding.

We are using DJsUnlimited in Floral Park. We are paying about 1,400 for 5 hours (cocktail hour and reception) with basic lighting. No giveaways. We definitely could've gotten a better price elsewhere, but the owner (i think) David was sooo nice, we just got a good vibe from him right away.

I used SAS and it was about $1500 for 4 hours...no extras...except a bigger sound system, b/c our hall was so big...

I am paying $1000 for a DJ and an MC for four hours. No lights, giveaways or anything crazy.

$500 (he's my friend) that owns his DJ company.
Its a gift to me for my day so thats his tip.
We got DJ & MC, full light show, smoke machine, bubble machine, giveaways of our choice, etc. for 4 1/2 hrs.

Although he charges $1000 with all that (or a little less I think) for a regular customer.
