Price of Bridesmaid Dresses

What do you all feel is a reasonable amount to ask your bridesmaids to spend on their BM dresses? I feel that being a part of a wedding can be so expensive that I want to try to keep the price as budget-friendly as possible--definitely under $200. Was just wondering what your thoughts are.

Yeah, I was thinking about 100-150 as well. That seems pretty reasonable.

100-150 because they still have to get it altered which is more $$

My dresses were $150. I would have felt bad going over that.

To be honest I tried to keep it at 100-150.

I wish the dresses were $100, but $150 didn't seem to be too much of a burden.

i wanted to keep it upder 200, but they all ended up wanting a dress that was 275. luckily, they are from the same place i got my dress from, so the total came to 230 + alterations. not ideal, but it's a gorgeous dress and looks good on everyone!

i think you should ask your bp what they feel comfortable spending... we found one we loved and with my discount they came out to 250, which was alil more than what we hoped for but my bms loved them so they were ok with it

Mine were $130 without alterations, so I figure they'll spend about $200 with alterations

Mine were originally 135, but since I got my dress there they got it for 115!

Originally, I wanted to keep them under $100. I found that it would've been doable if we weren't in such a time crunch and i wasn't overseas. Also, if each girl wears a different dress its definitely doable. I know someone who just wend to different sale racks in different department stores and was able to get coordinating dresses for the girls at great prices. (but this takes time and patience)

I definitely wanted to keep it under $150 though. I was able to do it at Davids Bridal. netbride.com also gives good deals. I actually emailed them to let me know what lines had dresses under $150 and sizez 0-plus size and they gave me a list to check out. I just couldn't order from there b.c of the time frame. I believe brides.com also has an option where you can search by price and then lookup where they sell the dresses.

I am paying $168 for my BM dress for FSIL's wedding and I think that is incredibly reasonable. I've been in weddings where I spend over $250 for a dress and I thought it was much but as a BM I knew the expense comes along with it so I didn't complain.

Maybe just talk to your girls and ask them what they would like to not go over as far as price and then look for dresses in their price range.

I recommend Alexandra's Boutique in Forest Hills - that's where we are getting the dresses and they have a HUGE selection of BM dresses from dozens of designers.
