I was at a showcase last night at my reception hall. I was talking to their house makeup artist, she said the price for the bride the day of would be $300, but if she did my 2 BMs it would only be $150. BM's would be $70 I think each. Do you girls think this is too pricey? This is also without tips. I really didn't think her work was so hot either.

From what I have seen on here-- there are definitely people who are priced lower-- and if you are not happy with her work, you should continue to look elsewhere. I am spending an exhorbatant amount on hair and make-up, but I get one day to live like a rock star in my opinion.
Also- I would not spend $70 if I was a BM. I had my make-up done at Maximus for my e-pics.. and it was $50.

My makeup artist works partime for MAC and is just starting out. But she is awesome. Here's a pic for you. Her prices are amazing- 25 for trial(you go to her in Westbury) and 50 the day of to come to you. At least these were her prices a couple of months ago when she started doing bridal makeup. FM me for details if you like her work.
Yeah.. it depends how much shopping around.. if you want to spend a lot of money and get your makeup air brushed, then thats good. I however did not. I found a woman who does a free trial, and is awesome... she did my makeup and it was beautiful. Oh.. and it was only $40 the day of.
I'm paying $125 the day of ( extra for air brushing I think) and my BM's are $55...$80 if they want air brushing.

I paid $300 for my makeup, but my artist followed me from the getting ready through the ceremony & the pictures until I was introduced...and she did an amazing job. My girls were $75 each, but that was also INCLUDING HAIR!

I think $300 is way too much. I used Jillian from Gorgeous Faces and she did an amazing job. She did my makeup at 7:30am and it was still on when I was ready for be at the end of the night.

Wow, $300 is insane. The person I really really wanted was $225 and I thought that was ridiculous. The ones I'm looking at are around the $100 mark for the bride and $55-60 for the BMs.

If you're not impressed w/ her work, $300 is ridiculous. I'm paying $250 which IMO is well worth it, although others may think it's insane. My artist is Maureen Pedala. - She uses airbrush foundation and does an amazing job. I went for trials with other very popular artists on the boards that others rave about, and absolutely HATED what they did to me. It's all a matter of personal opinion and budget. Good Luck ! I used Denise from Angel Eyes for my wedding and she is wonderful. I paid $90 for me and $55 each for my mom and my sister.

i payed $500 for 4 ppl total (bride and 3 maids) for hair and makeup. she did a great job, she gives free hair / makeup trials and she'll travel to you -- that sold me!

My makeup artist is $175 per person. She is going to make me up for free because she is also going to do my bridesmaids (3) I had no clue what to expect to pay and when she told me the price I was a little shocked. But like one other poster said, you get to live like a rock star for one day, and the last thing you want is to come out looking shiny or tired or pale in your wedding photos. Applying makeup for photography is totally different from just putting on 'a nice made up face.' I console myself with the fact that my makeup artist is not only licensed, but also does makeup for television as well.

If you didn't like her work, than why bother! Go get some trials and ask the price BEFORE you say it's for a wedding. Everythings more expensive when it's for a wedding!
