priest

Hey girls. So I am still searching for a Catholic priest for my out of church ceremony. I know we can't have a Roman Catholic priest that is still with a church. I have done a search and there are some posts on Fr. Fehrenbacher (but the comment about him where he combed his hair during the ceremony made me shiver!). I am meeting with a Reverend Robert Allmen - anybody know him? Or does anybody know anybody else? Preferably a Catholic priest who just isn't with the church anymore.....thanks guys!

Check my post below... Chevaliers of Notre Dame... here's their webpage... www.catholicanswer.org/homepage.html Their Catholic priests, and their services have been blessed by the Vatican. Good luck!

Father Allmen did our ceremony...

9/2/01 at the Port Jeff Country Club. We really liked him a lot. He was extremely easy to work with and incorporated the readings that were important to us. He even closed with the Apache wedding blessing we wanted! We were really nervous, but once we met with him out at his rectory, we felt completely at ease. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to help. Good Luck! Michele

shelby.

thanks so much for the input! We've met with a few people and I just haven't been comfortable with any. This is an AWFUL question - but - did he 'look' right? It's really important to my family that he has on the priestly stuff! :) Also - i am sure if you used him, he was a well=spoken man. I met a guy this past weekend who said 'you's and dem' - not exactly what I am loooking for!!!! Thanks!

Are these real priests you guys are talking about? Your talking about a priest looking and dressing the part. I`m a little confused about this. If you get married by the priests you are talking about, is the marriage recognized in the church?

buttafli

No Buttafli. I know that our marriage won't be recognized as a sacrament. The priests we are talking about our Catholic priests that were at one time priests at Roman Catholic churches and have since left the diocese to be members of a more 'liberal' Catholic following. Instead of having a judge or an interfaith minister, I have chosen to have one of these priests perform the ceremony so that my family can feel somewhat close to the ceremony. I have distanced myself somewhat from my faith in the past few years, and feel it would be hypocritical of me to marry in a church being that my ideals differ so wildly from theirs right now. (Not to say I won't find my way back. I am actually quite sure I will!)

shelby...

Sorry - I got swamped at work. Fr. Bob looks the part, in fact he was preistly enough for my Irish Catholic grandma :) He is based in Hampton Bays and his # is 631-723-2012. I believe the cost was $300 for the ceremony. We really liked him and he did a wonderful ceremony. I'm trying to see if I have any pictures of him doing our ceremony scanned so you can see what he looks like. Michele

cira!

So you liked Father Wilshere? I just called him. he sounds SUPER nice. And it makes me feel better that he 'looks the part' - I don't really mean that like collar and robe and all that. We met this minister over the weekend that was covered in tattoos!!! I didn't mind, but my FH almost died! It doesnt' sound like Father Wilshere is into that kind of thing! Thanks for the info. I will go and meet him.

That's great ....

Let me know how it goes. We like him a lot and he is very willing to work with you with the ceremony and any other issues or problems that you would like to discuss with him. If he can deal with me, he can deal with any bride! HA ;-)
