Princeville in Kauai

Has anyone been there? FH and I have heard that the weather on that side of the island is not as great as the side that the Hyatt is on. I don't want to spend a week on my honeymoon under a cloud! I have been checking on weather.com and the weather doesn't seem to be bad. Anyone with personal experience there???

Re: Princeville in Kauai

I have heard it's a great hotel, but I also heard stuff about the weather. We are staying at the Hyatt because I don't want to chance it. Check out tripadvisor.com. It may help you make a decision

Re: Princeville in Kauai

I stayed up in princeville for 2 and half weeks and the weather was beautiful!! It would rain like in florida all of sudden and then beautiful in 15 mins!! The same thing when we would go down to the south shore where hyatt was rain and then beautiful!! u will not be in rain the whole time!! But ur closer to the mountains up on the north side so there are more showers but they are quick and passing!! out of all that time we were there we didn't have one day that we were rained in!!I hope this helps!! Princeville was beautiful and such an amazing view of the Hanalei Bay

Re: Princeville in Kauai

I stayed at the Hyatt but did visit the Princeville. Both are gorgeous hotels but Hyatt was more my speed. What I experienced with the weather was by the Princeville it would be more hazy which would burn off - you'd wake up and it would look like it would be a bad day then eventually turn gorgeous...probably by late morning. It didn't rain once when I was in the Hyatt - I hear that area is prone to less rain. By the princeville I heard what others said above - real quick showers of rain.

Re: Princeville in Kauai

I stayed at the Princeville for about a week last October on my honeymoon. We also stayed at Kona Village on the Big Island and the Halekulani (sp?) in Oahu.

The weather at the Princeville was perfect the whole time we were there. It was always sunny and did not rain once.

The Princeville was AMAZING...one of the best hotels I have ever been too...and I've been to a number of fantastic resorts, lol. The restaurants there were fabulous as well. We had sushi in the 'library' a few times and it was amazing.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to forum mail me.

Re: Princeville in Kauai

I work for Starwood who owns the Princeville. I haven't been there but I know lots of co-workers that have, and everyone always raves about it. Not sure where we are going on our HM, but if we choose Hawaii, we will definitley be staying there for part of the trip!

Re: Princeville in Kauai

Princeville is the most beautiful and elegant section of Kauai. It's absolutely amazing. You feel like you're in a true rainforest in a different party of the world...not in America.
IT does rain, but the rain quickly changes to sunlight...Kauai is under a perpetual storm cloud but that's what makes it so green and lush.
Good luck!

I've attached two pictures for you to see. The darker one with the palm trees were taken in Princeville..right above Hanalei Bay.
