Prior to booking your florist, did you know exactly what you wanted?
I know it's probably better to have some idea on what you would like prior to booking a florist so that you can get the most accurate quote. But, what if you are unsure? Then, do you think it's a waste of time looking for florist?

It's probably easier if you go in with some pictures or ideas - then the florist will be able to work with you on developing your ideas. But if you have NO idea, I'm not too sure how much a florist can help you yet.

I went in without a clue. The girl was patient and showed me lots of pictures. The only thing I knew was my color was wine and gold, I took all her suggestions. She even made me a bouquet on the spot and I loved it.

nope. I had an idea of what I wanted but I was not sure of types of flowers or colors. As long as you know if you want high or low centerpieces and how many bouqets u need, I think you'll be fine.

I had NO clue just went knowing how many BM, GM, FG & RBs and about how many guests(tables)
My florist just went with what I said..low CPs...and that I liked roses and calla lillies...she already had a sample when I went and it was beautiful..I just wanted to add color
So no it helps if you do but it is not necessary

know high/low for sure, a rough estimate as the number of tables you will have, # of BM/FG/GM, corsages for the moms, and whether or not you want something for the church/temple if its not at your RH.
also have an idea of color (all white or color etc might help) or a specific flower to get an accurate estimate... for example, i knew i wanted green orchids and they are more expensive than roses... but they have great ides so dont worry too much.

I had an idea of what I wanted from looking at photos. But, then my florist gave some ideas that were more cost effective because I wanted a certain look.

I knew what I didn't want and since I had a winter wedding I did a lot of research on what kind of flowers were winter flowers. I had an idea of what I was looking for and it took me a long time to deiced on which florist I was going to use and I am so Happy I went with Creative Florist in Island Park Doris does unbelievable work.

I think it is still fine to look... I went in wanting one thing and then changed my mind.... and now 6 months later I found something else I like more....

My colors are wine/red and gold. I know I definitely don't want white flowers at all!!! Hopefully, they could provide some direction. I'm thinking something along the lines of a redish with gold accents centerpiece. But that's all I know for sure. My primary concern is giving a florist a deposit and then changing my mind and getting quoted double the price of the original quote.

well...for example the way i chose my florist was based on...i went to 2 places they basically said yea yea well do what you want, when i showed them pictures (and i wanted very specific things) and one of the two seemed like they really had no idea what i was talking about because i suggested certain colors and flowers and he suggested the complete opposite of things i liked...then i went to a place that the guy seemed to know exactly what i was talking about and made suggestions i really liked.....so i guess what im saying is if you think you will care about what the flowers will look like and have a certain vision, its important that who you're working with understands it, if you can just pick a color and go with the flow then it really doesn't matter who you book.

Good point. I guess it's a matter who can best achieve your vision perfectly.
