Probably a really stupid question but need help anyway (shoe related)
what makes a shoe 'not dyeable'? is it just that it is a set color already or is the fabric not able to take it?reason i ask is because my DREAM shoes (which are, btw, $120...ugh) are 'not dyeable.' I'm not sure I should spend the $$ if I'm just going to be stuck with a pair of ivory shoes at the end. it would seem to me you could dye anything black. but I could be wrong?
anybody know about this stuff? TIA!!

Re: Probably a really stupid question but need help anyway (shoe related)
I don't know what makes them un-dyeable but I assumed it was the way the fabric was woven, etc.I really liked a few pair of shoes that were not dyeable (and kinda pricey too) and felt the same way as you do - I didn't want to spend so much money on a pair of shoes that I couldn't wear again. If I hadn't found my dream shoes elsewhere, I would have gone with one of the other non-dyeables that I liked. So I would suggest you keep looking for a bit and if you really can't find something else you love, go for it. I mean, you spend so much on your dress and you'll never wear that again either!

I'm pretty sure that if you buy an ivory shoe that isn't dyeable, you will not be able to dye it to black or a darker color.

I think shoes are 'not dyeable' because the fabric won't take the dye. You could dye them, but then find out it comes off on your clothes or feet, which would not be great.OTOH, as someone else said, we spend enormous amounts of money on our gowns and we're not going to wear those again. Why cheap out on the shoes? Some brides think it's not a big deal, no one will ever see your shoes, but I love shoes, and don't have a giant ballgown-style skirt, so I bought the very expensive shoes of my dreams ($200.) I'm not sure if they're dyeable, either. They're the most expensive shoes I've ever bought. But I knew that if got the cheaper shoes, I wouldn't be truly happy on the day. I love my shoes so much, and I'm going to be showing them off--they WILL end up in photos. Also I love the light yellow Chucks with tiny ladybugs I got for walking on grass and/or later in the reception, and those will end up in photos too.
So, in my opinion, buy the shoes you love. It's a drop in the bucket of the wedding. It just depends how much your wedding shoes matter to you. Mine mean a lot to me.
