I had to walk my daughter over to a casket with her fellow classmate in it. He was 10 yrs old. I cant describe the feeling. I was devastated. He was such a good kid, and lost his battle with cancer after a year. I sat and held my daughter soo long, just happy shes with me everyday. These past three days have been so hard.

I think I just read an article about him in Newsday yesterday. So, so sad. . .I can't imagine being in your shoes. My heart goes out to you, your daughter, her classmates, and his family.

What happened?
EDIT: Nevermind that was an idiot question. I meant what did the article say about him?

So sorry that you had to experience this with your daughter. It is always sad when a parent loses a child. May his soul rest in peace, without pain and that he becomes a guardian angel for his family.

its wierd, cause all i kept thinking was how lucky i was. I kept repeating those words to myself over and over. My daughter came home in tears and i was crying, my fh was crying, she was painted in his lacrosse colors, and the number 16 written all over her. I wanted her to wash it off before funeral and she said no, she wanted to keep it on. When i went to wake, all the kids had it. They really stuck together. As parents we had to hold ourselves up, and our children were so brave. Im so proud of her.

It is really amazing how kids act in these situations....them sticking together shows not only their own strength but their respect for their classmate. There are so many times we read about children who have terminal illnesses and how they deal with their situation and it is truly amazing that they have so much strength and courage. It makes us all take a step back and realize how precious life is and how we should take nothing for granted.
