problems with photog/VENT
Ugh, one week to go, of course there has to be a problem now. My photographer, who was referred by a friend has been less than pleasant to work with. I spoke to her yest. about details, and she said she can't come to the house first b/c she has another party earlier that day. So, she is meeting us at the Riviera. Okay, I was upset, but got over it (should I be mad?). Then my FH pointed out that she is going to be working less than 8 hours, and we assumed we were paying for 8 (isn't that usually the case). So, FH called her and said if we're not getting her 8, we should negotiate on the price (which is decent already). Well she was nasty and said that some weddings are only 6 & 7 hours, and the price doesn't change, only for over 8 hours (overtime). I'm pissed b/c she was recommended by a good friend, and this lady has been short everytime I talk to her, and she take forever to call back. I guess there's not much I can do, but I need to vent. I guess if this is the biggest problem, it's not so bad.

Re: problems with photog/VENT
I don't know what can be done about it now but I think I would try to get another photographer if my photographer told me he couldn't come to my home before the ceremony if that is what he agreed to originally if at all possible. She is your vendor and as such should be treating you as a client - not as if she is doing you a favor.

Re: problems with photog/VENT
That ia ridiculous. Every photographer we have met with always says that they start at the brides house. Maybe she can send a second photographer for just the extra couple of hours.

Totally honest- Get a new one. These 'friends of friends' things rarely work out well. She NEEDS to be at your house while you are getting ready or else you will not have any photos of that. I have never heard of a photographer doing 2 weddings in one day. Maybe they do it- and I just have not heard it. If you can afford it find a new one. There are too many nice, great photograhers out there to deal with her.Oh, and my photographers are getting to me at Noon and leaving at 11:00PM.

Re: problems with photog/VENT
I feel your pain...I am having photography nightmares as well.I do honestly think that the photographer should come to the house before the wedding. That is an extremely personal and touching moment (while you're getting ready, time alone with family, etc.) and she needs to be there. If it's in your contract, she's breaking it...bottom line.
Unfortunately, finding a photographer 1 week before your wedding is not going to be easy and might not be an option. I would insist that someone be there before your ceremony.
Why can't these vendors realize that we pay a lot of money for these services, sign contracts with them and we TRUST that they will do what we ask them to do!!??
It's really not a difficult concept! How do they stay in business?

Re: problems with photog/VENT
Maybe you should try calling some studios that we know from this board have several photogrpahers. I love mine, but he is a one man show and is probably booked. But some of the other places I looked at like VIP, Photos of the Heart and Mark Kaufmann had several photographers. You shouldn't feel like you are stuck with a nasty vendor. Someone has to still have the day available. Good luck. Please post her name so future brides know to stay away

Re: problems with photog/VENT
I shouldn't be saying this but I would be FUMING!!! AND I would have went bazerck with her on the phone. I have a truck driver mouth when I get angry!!!Recommendation from a friend or not this woman should not be treating you this way. You are a client as someone else mentioned before and you don't need this nonsense going on a week before your wedding. Was the photographer showing up at your house in your contract? I would be even more livid if it was and she has the ordacity to say she can't make it b/c she has another event.
Why don't you write something on the vendor board and see if any of the photographers will respond. As Becky said, MK and a few others have more than 1 photographer. One of them may be available next week for you. I am so sorry this woman has done this to you. People can be real a**es sometimes.
Can you please post her name so I can cross her off my list, if she even made it! The way she handles her business she definitely doesn't deserve my time and money.
