Re: Prongs in the Settings!
I just had my prongs tightened about a month ago. The jeweler said its good to have them checked about every six months especially if you wear it all the time.

Re: Prongs in the Settings!
You can just walk into the jewweler and they should be able to tightten the prongs right there in front of you. Never ever leave your ring

Re: Prongs in the Settings!
Can you take it back to the jeweler where your fiance got the ring? He/she should be able to tighten them

Re: Prongs in the Settings!
Also, diamond should be set in 6 prongs. Just extra precaution. Jewler in my family wont sell a ring without 6 prongs

Re: Prongs in the Settings!
I was told every 6 months by my jeweler. He buffed the band, checked the diamond for scratches and the setting. Then he cleaned it.

Re: Prongs in the Settings!
If you hold your ring to your ear and tap on it with your other hand - you can hear if the diamond is loose. Our jewler has demonstrated this to us and you can totally hear the difference.

Re: Prongs in the Settings!
That's how I figured out my prongs needed tightening. I waved my hand by my ear and I heard a rattle. I got so paranoid that I was going to lose the diamond
