Pros vs Cons of hair/makeup by same provider or 2 diff providers??

Hey everyone,

This board has been so helpful! I'm wrestling with making a decision on who to go with for hair/makeup. I wanted to get some thoughts on whether to go with a provider that does both hair and makeup or should I go with two different providers? Anyone ever had any problems with 2 providers on the day of the wedding?

The one that does both services is pricier than the others when I add everything added up.

I know I want to trial both but I would rather not spend on multiple trials and hope I make the right decision the first time.

From my experience being that we are getting married the same weekend. Keep in mind Memorial Day weekend is a very popular weekend to get married. When trying to book my trials I found majority of the popular stylist were booked way in advance. It was difficult to find a stylist that was available and luckily I was able to schedule an appointment with a stylist I wanted. At this point I would just call whom ever you're interested in and seeing that their available.

Funny--I had the same thought! I'm actually trying to do 1 person because I'm 6 months out from the wedding and honestly, don't feel like doing a ton of different trials and would love to just book 2 for 1!

From my experience I've found that it's actually more affordable to do both services together. For example, the MU/Hair people I've found charge MU alone $250, Hair alone $250, both services is $400. I would definitely negotiate that.

Just an observation from a wedding I was in recently..the bride used the same person for hair and makeup but since the bridal party was large the stylist had to bring a second stylist with her which the bride was charged an additional $100 fee for. If she would have used 2 different stylists this would have been avoided. Whoever you select just double check the fine print on your contract and make sure you're actually getting a cheaper price.

I used two different people for my wedding this past weekend. They were both reasonably priced and things were done very quickly. It wasn't a problem at all, and since they were both reasonably priced, it all worked out.
