I was going to save this for my review but I wanted to share it now:
I know this has probably been said or done before but I just wanted to pass on my own experiences post wedding. This was advice given to me by my older sister, She Said: 'On the day of your wedding things are going to go wrong, and the best thing to do is to let it roll off your back and don’t let it ruin your day -just have fun' And you know what, I listened and this is the best thing I could've ever done because my day was fanatastic, all I did was enjoy myself, enjoyed being with my new husband and around my friends and family. And ofcourse things did go wrong:
-I had an unvited guest at the ceremony and then she tried to go to the reception -The grooms father walked down for the ceremony but didn’t come to the reception, hence his wife didn’t come (he was suppose to be introduced, my poor DH but he said screw him) -At the Church they were suppose to play bridal march or whatever for the Bridal party and then switch it to Ave Maria for me. But No, Ave Maria was played for the whole thing – It was disappointing, I almost was going to have em change it or I wasn’t walking but then I was like what the hell am I doing , just go get married -They left the extra flowers at the church -About 10 ppl didn’t show up ( including almost a whole table)
In the End I just want you ladies to know that if you are relaxed and just let yourself have fun you will have the most memorable time. Don’t focus on the negative because you want to get the most of all the hard work, sweat, tears and even fights that you had over this wedding. In the end All Couples Deserve To Have Fun and Enjoy every minute of their Wedding!!
Thanks for reading, Past Brides please feel free to share your experience and thoughts!!

Re: PSA: For Brides-To-Be (A Little Long)
-i lost my voice -my bustle refused to stay up -i had serious issues with some members of the bridal party -i forgot my slip -the FG refused to walk down the aisle.
in the end, these 'disasters' made the day BETTER [well, except the bridal party jerkfaces]!
none of it matters anyway....i married my prince. i'm living happily ever after [well, i was, but football season arrived. ]!!!!

I just wanted to say how much I agree with you!!!!!!!
After all the stresses of wedding planning, you deserve to enjoy your special day no matter what!!!!!
Just remember: The most important thing is that at the end of the day you're married!!!!!

Re: PSA: For Brides-To-Be (A Little Long)
Yup, I'd agree that (a)this is probably the most widely given advice and (b) it is so true
We had -a groomsman pull over all 3 limos on the side of the road for 10 minutes because apparently him getting more champagne was more important than us getting to our wedding reception -the photographer's assistant get lost further delaying pictures and adding to whatever the heck else caused us to miss out entire cocktail hour AND still have to pull people out of the reception for pics -my husband step on my dress and make a gigantic tear in the seam in the back -18 people pile into a 10 passanger limo for the ride back because my mom has a big mouth and my in-laws are stupid -and last but not least, my husband loose his wedding band in the pool at the after party (after my dad threw him in of course) starting an hour long search ending in about 10 friends and family members going in the pool in their clothes to find it so he'd have it for the HM (and no one told me this for an hour 'cause they thought I'd be mad and I thought it was so weird that everyone was going to all this effort for 'my dad's glasses') when I found out I laughed my a$$ of and busted out my camera to take pics of the whole fiasco!!!
Through it all I do have to admit that I did loose my cool for a minute (particularly about the pictures thing but also about the ride home) but was promptly brought around by my MOH telling me EXACTLY what Smara said (and a few shots helped too)...Its true its your wedding day and things will be great and things will go wrong but freaking about about all the little stuff (and yes, a major as it seems, it probably is little and will end up being pretty stinken funny in retrospect) will just take away from the time that you and your husband share with each other and your guests...
And that's all I have to say about that

Re: PSA: For Brides-To-Be (A Little Long)
Lets see... 1. It rained. 2. The organist was a half hour late. 3. My husband's step grandmother decided to walk down the aisle even though she was not supposed to. 4. The power went out twice while really great songs were on! The photographer missed a few key pics...
Regardless, I had the time of my life and I wouldn't change a thing, except for the weather!

1. I got my period the day of the wedding 2. I forgot to bring slippers so my feet were KILLING ME by the end of the night...
But, it was my dream wedding anyways!

Re: PSA: For Brides-To-Be (A Little Long)
What a GREAT thread...and it is so true what you said...nothing really matters the day of...it kind of bothered me afterwards though...
-DH's grandparents were supposed to walk down the isle but got there late and we were not going to wait for them; -Our parents were supposed to sit in the third pew and not the first pew; -The FG and the RB were supposed to walk before my MOH and end up walking in after her....right before me; -DH's vest was supposed to be white and not black; -My cake was supposed to be round and not square; -Our close friends and members of BP got into a huge fight at the reception; -We were supposed to take pictures in the WM's garden but ended up taking them inside...
Thats about it...silly right???? Yes it is silly and I did not stress it the day of but afterwards...Im over it though now.

and last but not least, my husband loose his wedding band in the pool at the after party (after my dad threw him in of course) starting an hour long search ending in about 10 friends and family members going in the pool in their clothes to find it so he'd have it for the HM (and no one told me this for an hour 'cause they thought I'd be mad and I thought it was so weird that everyone was going to all this effort for 'my dad's glasses') when I found out I laughed my a$$ of and busted out my camera to take pics of the whole fiasco!!!
Wow - you cant make this stuff up....
- My dress, even when bustled, was too long and I couldnt do 1 ballroom dance (or dance at all - )and I'm a former ballroom dancer, and our best man is a ballroom dancer - everyone couldnt wait to see us dance, and I couldnt!
- the DJ messed up the intros and the dedication songs - the DOC kept asking me over and over again about the intro order - sooo many times, and the DJ still screwed it up!!!
- It rained for my outdoor wedding!
But it was still wonderful!!!

Re: PSA: For Brides-To-Be (A Little Long)
The cupcakes were supposed to have pudding in them. Tthe sea bass was supposed to be oreganata not macadamia encrusted. My father's stupid cousin read the table number wrong and sat at the wrong table causing a domino effect on the seating until someone finally told me so I could sort it out. It was brutally hot. I got nautious in the limo to the RH. I am sure there are other things but I really had to think about these because the day was just PERFECT. I would not change a thing. (Except maybe offer my dad's cousin reading glasses.)

Re: PSA: For Brides-To-Be (A Little Long)
Ladies, I can top everyone. Let me preface: I had a traditional Jewish wedding. The only thing that went wrong was that my brother in law had a moment of dillusionment and stepped on the glass meant for my HUSBAND. I have a picture of everyone looking in shock! The rabbi had to tell the music to stop playing, so my husband could step on his own glass. It was pretty funny to say the least. I felt bad for my BIL because he was beyond humiliated. During the cocktail hour everyone was joking about it, laughing their asses off. But, by the time of the reception it was forgotten about. My wedding was too good for people to continue talking about the glass incident. I totally forgot about it too.

Re: PSA: For Brides-To-Be (A Little Long)
My 1 ringbearer, and my flowergirl wanted to walk down the aisle when their parents (who were in the b) did, so we just let them....we would rather have them walk down at the wrong time, but make it all the way down, than having a 15 month old and a 3 year old causing a fuss at the beginning of the ceremony and then being miserable the whole time. The 6 year old waited to walk down when he was 'supposed' to and he was so proud of himself for it.
We totally forgot about the blusher
My one reader got sick the morning of and couldn't make it, so we had my brother's date read instead. She did awesome for just getting the reading 5 minutes before we left the house.
My MOH's plane got grounded for 3 hours in Colorado because of the rain we had on Friday, so her and my one bridesmaid missed the rehearsal (but made it to the dinner! ) so we were trying to catch them up morning of while we waited to walk down the aisle
But these things were so minor, that I totally consider it a perfect wedding! It was the most wonderful day of your life, and you should also take the other piece of advice that is very common. TAKE A MINUTE TO STOP AND LOOK AROUND TO APPRECIATE EVERYONE WHO CAME AND EVERYTHING THAT IS GOING ON. This had been drilled into my DH and I, and it definately made a difference. When my photographer was trying to rush us into the library to take photos, we told him that we were going to our cocktail hour for half an hour, and then we would come in and take the photos. Maybe we didn't get as many posed shots as we 'should' have, but we got to say hi to most of our guests and enjoy the beauty of the cocktail hour.
