I was going to save this for my review but I wanted to share it now:
I know this has probably been said or done before but I just wanted to pass on my own experiences post wedding. This was advice given to me by my older sister, She Said: 'On the day of your wedding things are going to go wrong, and the best thing to do is to let it roll off your back and don’t let it ruin your day -just have fun' And you know what, I listened and this is the best thing I could've ever done because my day was fanatastic, all I did was enjoy myself, enjoyed being with my new husband and around my friends and family. And ofcourse things did go wrong:
-I had an unvited guest at the ceremony and then she tried to go to the reception -The grooms father walked down for the ceremony but didn’t come to the reception, hence his wife didn’t come (he was suppose to be introduced, my poor DH but he said screw him) -At the Church they were suppose to play bridal march or whatever for the Bridal party and then switch it to Ave Maria for me. But No, Ave Maria was played for the whole thing – It was disappointing, I almost was going to have em change it or I wasn’t walking but then I was like what the hell am I doing , just go get married -They left the extra flowers at the church -About 10 ppl didn’t show up ( including almost a whole table)
In the End I just want you ladies to know that if you are relaxed and just let yourself have fun you will have the most memorable time. Don’t focus on the negative because you want to get the most of all the hard work, sweat, tears and even fights that you had over this wedding. In the end All Couples Deserve To Have Fun and Enjoy every minute of their Wedding!!
Thanks for reading, Past Brides please feel free to share your experience and thoughts!!

Re: PSA: For Brides-To-Be (A Little Long)
This is a great thread & like everyone said, little things (or sometimes big things) are bound to go wrong. Don't let it get to you, remember what the day is truly about. Here's some of our glitches:
1) 8 days b4 wedding I find out my bm dresses were never ordered (girls ended up getting dresses 2 days b4 wedding at double the cost)
2) Half of my bp walked down the aisle to the wrong song (No big deal)
3) Littlest fg had to be carried by MOH b/c she couldn't go on her own
4) My cap sleeves were popping off all day & had to be safety pinned all day long (pins kept opening)
5) 5 minutes after getting to CLM I spill part of my BLUE drink on the bottom of my dress (GM cleaned it & it was fine)
6) Photog didn't get a family pic of DH's entire side of the family (something his mom really wanted)
7) We went for ballrm dance lessons & practiced when we should start dancing & so we had to walk around our dance floor twice b4 we actually start dancing, well band invited everyone onto dance floor 15 seconds after we actually started dancing (which was fine)
8) Not sure if table cameras were originally on the tables or put out after (most were not finished & my LIW girls said they werent there when they walked in)
9) Our hall wouldn't let us light the votive placecards (I wouldn't have spent the time making them)
10) Not a glitch but I just felt bad, my parents had to rush home after church to feed my dog & then drive back (45 min e/ way)
Overall it was the best day of my life & I wouldn't change a thing

my brother got in trouble before the ceremony for trying to feed the fish in the shark tank CHEESE he got from the bridal suite...so embarrassing.
eta i forgot that a lady my husband works with spilled her RED drink on my dress during CH. i didnt notice it right away, but the drink was a puddle in one of the bundles on my skirt. other ladies from his job helped clean it off with seltzer. i laughed it off.
That first one is SO friggin' funny....
The second one I quoted happened to my MOM on her wedding day... and they just celebrated their FORTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY, so maybe it's good luck!!!

7. My littlest SIL, who is 12 and was wearing a FLOWERGIRL DRESS (aka a white dress) went to the bar to get a drink for her mom and the bartender says 'You look a little young' and she goes 'I am the bride'. And he served her.
No she didn't!!!!! That's AWESOME!!!! She can just wear that dress everywhere!!!

Re: PSA: For Brides-To-Be (A Little Long)
I guess I got lucky, not alot went wrong.
-At the Cocktail Hour my bridal attendant came up to me telling me that my MIL wanted to make table changes five minutes before they are ready to open the doors to the ballroom.
-Then as we are ready to be announced into the hall, again my MIL wanted to walk in w/ her bf when we had already told her 4 times prior to the wedding that she had to walk in w/ her ex husband. They didn't have to hold hands, just walk in. Well of course she had to cause a scene like usual.
But other than that..the day was spectacular. No vendor problems, and not that many no shows. Just one which I guess isn't that bad after hearing some nightmare stories on here

Re: PSA: For Brides-To-Be (A Little Long)
here are some of the things that went not so right on my day
1. we did not have the CH room we were supposed to at the Swan Club. I was pretty upset, but not about the room change as much as when I was told.... right when I was about to walk down the aisle with my Dad GREAT timing! thanks for almost ruining my most special moment ever! 2. I did not like the CP's. my florist was awesome! the flowers at my wedding were above and beyond anything I could have imagined. But I let my florist talk me into getting taller vases for the tables and hated how they looked. I specifically wanted the low bowl type of CP's so that people at the table can see each other. almost everyone took them off the tables and put them on the floor. I was pretty upset about that. The CP for our “love dais” was stunning though! 3. my MOH did not bustle my dress correctly after the ceremony. when DH and I came back to the bridal suite right before the reception, I had him re-do it (I talked him through it) but it still was not 100%. I should have taken my dress off and done it myself.

Re: PSA: For Brides-To-Be (A Little Long)
I had a BM show up at 1:45...they were supposed to be there at 12....had to let it go
There were burns on the bottom of my dress...had a fit but had to let it go
By the time I got to the church...my dress was filthy...I am most likely heard on the video cursing
My Grandma fell at the church after the mass during the recieving line...I didn't appreciate people telling me 'don't worry about it' because I was concerned BUT she was fine and with 4 nurses in the family she was well taken care of...This actually got me out of talking to someone I didn't want coming
That was about it....to all future brides...Just enjoy your day

Well, first thing, my priest never said 'you may now kiss the bride.' DH and I weren't totally sure when to do it anyway, so we waited thinking it was coming up next or something. Then the end of the ceremony came, the priest never said it. And he also never announced us 'for the first time as Mr. and Mrs. H' Just said you may now go in peace, and then the organist started to play the processional music. Yup, no kiss, no announcement.
Holy moly!!!! This happened to my friends!!!! The priest let them know at the rehearsal he wasn't doing it because it was too hollywood and that priests don't normally do it. They were so upset on their wedding day!!! We made sure that our priest would do it. He thought we were nuts for asking. He said, why wouldn't I? Everyone has their own rules!!!!

The best advice we were given before our day was to step back a few times at the reception with your DH and just soak it all in. Remember that everyone is there for you two!!!! (SO glad I told DH this before our wedding day because he's the one that kept reminding me during the reception. And those are the only times I really remember clearly from the reception.)

Re: PSA: For Brides-To-Be (A Little Long)
I will try to keep this short, but oddly enough, I'm laughing over the whole thing. Guess you now can understand us getting married on April Fools Day:
In the 2 months before the wedding we had 2 BM, 1 GM and our friend that was doing the ceremony music drop out!!! Then our Travel agent died, who was so disorganized, that we had weeks of having to prove what we paid in order to go on the honeymoon. (Among many other things)
Day of: -My 2 wake up calls never came from the hotel and none of the BM thought they should call me to see if I was up
-My MOH forgot a bunch of stuff and we had to scramble
-The owner of the salon where I was getting my hair and make-up done was hospitalized, so she wasn't there. (She did my trial) They scrambled girls together to get all of us done that day. But they were great! It was nothing like my trial, but oh well! (Thank God the owner is okay!!!)
-The garters would not stay up on my silk stockings, so I just took them off and asked the DJ to warn me before the garter toss so I could put them on.
-The limo driver began arguing with me about how to send the BP down the aisle because he didn't like the way it was set up. Luckily, I was told that limo drivers like to 'take charge' on these things. So I was ready and ripped him a new one, leaving my BP and father, speechless. Yep, 2 minutes before I walked down the aisle. Boy I wish the video guy was back there. (I think that's when my dad really knew that his baby girl had grown up.)
*********My DH thought that taking a decongestant and drinking during the reception would not react. (Plus he didn't sleep days prior to the event) I spent most of the reception having to say hello and goodbye to guests by myself while he did crazy things on the dance floor that can't be explained by modern man. Needless to say, the marriage was not consumated that night.****************
-I was given a bloody nose during the cake 'feeding'. It happens to me because I am sick, and my MC covered it well as I ran out of the room with blood all over my face.
I'm sure other things happened, but I am drawing a blank. We laugh over what happened now. And everyone had a good time!

Re: PSA: For Brides-To-Be (A Little Long)
this is sooo true! there are gonna be things that go wrong that day, no matter how much you plan... you really just have to let it roll off your back and enjoy the day with your friends and family. for us, it was: DH forgot his passport at his parents house- 2 hours away!! and didn't realize it until he was having breakfast with his GMs the morning of the wedding. he needed it becasue we were leaving for the honeymoon the next morning to the british virgin islands. SOO... they were trying to decide which groomsman was going to miss the reception to drive up and get it for him, but luckily they got ahold of a friend who lived up there and she hadn't left yet! SOO she busted into ILs house and brought it down with her! LOL of course, i didn't hear about this till later that night.

Re: PSA: For Brides-To-Be (A Little Long)
We had a bunch of little things go wrong, but nothing that made me stop smiling the whole day
1. The priest never said 'kiss the bride'- we just did it on our own!! He is 86 years old so I am sure he just forgot his line 2.My neice refused to smile and freaked out while walking down the aisle (she is 2 1/2 so I did not expect much more of her!!) 3.The bridal suite was not set up, 4. There was no maitre d' 5. They never arranged a breakfast for us the next day so we had to run around the reception handing out breakfast tickets 6. There was supposed to be candles in the fireplace, but they put the cake table in front of it and there were no candles in there. 7. The DJ played Vanilla Ice and Jump Around, I was a little annoyed but my guests seemed to love it (I never gave them a do not play list so I guess it's sort of my fault) 8. We had wedding crashers Three bridesmaids from another wedding were out on the deck, but DH knew the other couple who got marrried so it was ok. It was just funny when I saw them!!!

Ladies, I can top everyone. Let me preface: I had a traditional Jewish wedding. The only thing that went wrong was that my brother in law had a moment of dillusionment and stepped on the glass meant for my HUSBAND. I have a picture of everyone looking in shock! The rabbi had to tell the music to stop playing, so my husband could step on his own glass. It was pretty funny to say the least. I felt bad for my BIL because he was beyond humiliated. During the cocktail hour everyone was joking about it, laughing their asses off. But, by the time of the reception it was forgotten about. My wedding was too good for people to continue talking about the glass incident. I totally forgot about it too.
omg this had cracking up
