P/T Job....any decent paying ones?

P/T Job....any decent paying ones?

I already work a p/t job @ RF. Its selling those Gift cards. It pays ok, considering I dont do too much. In the end after taxes I dont think its worth it. Between me traveling there and getting paid bi-weekly. I also have to wear a blue shirt and black pant uniform!
I also sit at a desk and dont move! Major lack of excercise! Much added to my larger A$$!

I started it for the holidays for extra cash and also kept it for the additional wedding funds.

Anyways, anyone know of places that hire at a decent wage of $9 or higher. I dont mind working...opposed to sitting down and not doing much. Im also in Nassau if that helps.

any suggestions, TIA!

I make $9/hr managing hallmark displays. it's not at all glamorous but there's no uniform, you just have to look presentable, and you definitely don't sit on your azz. I don't know if you're interested, but when I see my boss I'll ask her if they're hiring at all

Another job I had, which I probbaly wouldnlt reccomend, but I think I was making $9 an hour is working at one of the portrait studios like Sears or target. I worked at Sears and we had a uniform (annoying), and it could get VERY stressful, but it was still fun playing with babies all day and you're helping people make memories that will last a lifetime. Occasionally you'd get tips, etc, and there were sometimes bonuses and perks, etc. It's really sort of a grueling retail job a ot of the time, but it's another one where you're on your feet all day. I know they're constantly hiring...but most of the people who worlked there when I was there were younger, college age. I was a soph in college and aside from the assitant manager and the manager I was the oldest one there. I could have been AM but I couldn't work full time. They're pretty good about working around schedules though, and you get a discount at sears.

One more thing, I don't know if you like teaching or tutoring, but working for kaplan or princeton review pays VERY well for a PT job. I started at $18/hr and when I left ..(I'll probbaly go back) I was making $25.hr

For Kaplan there;s a several step process. Kaplan focuses mainly on exams, sdo you have to have a certain exam score at least 95%ile (90 on some exams or if they're desperate) and you have to interview and 'audition' and go through training. I did tutpring for 4 years I tried teaching, but it wasn';t for me for a number of reasons.

If you don't have a high score on SAT LSAT GRE whatever you can still check out a place like sylvan where you can tutor regular academic subjects.

I know for Kaplan you don't need to be a teacher. I tutored SAT right out of HS, but the more advanced a degree you have the higher your starting pay is. You get paid more for tutoring but I think you need a higher score. I think you also need to teach a certain # of classes now before you tutor, but I came in before that, when the tutpring and teaching were separate entities and so I was grandfathered

For the record, I worked at a Sylvan center and the teachers there had to be certified. They occasionally made an exception for Math teachers, since they had a hard time finding certified teachers for the higher grades.

This may vary, depending on the location, but I think they really try to hire certified people at most of the centers. They do pay fairly well for PT work.
