Hey for anyone interested in learning more about pure bred dogs, breed specific health concerns or anything concerning a specific breed (ie personality traits, size, exercise needs etc) feel free to FM me. I will be graduating Veterinary school in May and am very interested in helping people to make the right decision when it comes to buying/adopting a pet!

Wow great to know!!!!

thank you so much. What dog is best for someone allergic to dogs. He's not allergic to all dogs so its weird but even the same breed. His friend had a pug and he loved it and was around it alot and nothing ever happened...Then we went to someones house who had a pug and he got so bad, happens all the time and we never know which dog he cant be around...Thats why i want to be safe and get a hypoallergenic dog...curious to know how many breeds are.

I love shiba inus. LOVE them. They are a super intelligent breed of dog - so they need to be stimulated often. If not they can be little buggers!!

They aren't low maintenence dogs....

Re: Puppy!!!

As far as hypoallergenic dogs... No true hypoallergenic dogs exist, however breeds that have a coat that sheds less as opposed to fur that is constantly turning over tend to produce less dander (which is a common cause for canine/feline related allergies in people). Unfortunately some people are even allergic to material within the dog saliva hence no breed is totally safe as all dogs lick themselves and are therefore covered in saliva. Some dog breeds that are better tolerated include: bichons, poodles (all sizes), Poodle crosses (ie labradoodles/goldendoodles -though warning..not as safe as pure poodles), old english sheepdogs, and portugese water dogs. If you or your FH have mild allergies than it might be best to pick one of the above breeds, or take the time to frequently bath your dog or wipe it down to remove some of the allergens that are present on your dog's coat. HTH, allergies suck.

thank you very much. He is ok around alot of dogs but some of them he gets so bad...i am going to definitely make sure to look just at dogs with smallest risk of allergic people having a reaction to them...again thank you for the info
