We were talking about this the other day, and I thought I'd start a thread for those of us who need a little gym / diet inspiration now and then. I thought we could post here when we need a little motivation (i.e. 'It's a coworker's birthday and she brought in cupcakes! I think I want to eat three of them! Help!'), or when we did something we're proud of that might inspire others ('I ran 2 miles on the treadmill today! Go me!', stuff like that).
I was thinking that maybe if I had somewhere to 'report back to,' I might be more likely to go to the gym, and maybe even to eat a little better.
So here, I'll start: I never have time to make my own lunch in the mornings, and so I always end up eating the junk in the cafeteria. I have either french fries or tater tots 5 days a week! So delicious, but so bad. So yesterday, I went to Target and bought a week's worth of Lean Cuisine meals - I figure I can just heat them up in the microwave and I'm good to go! I've never had a Lean Cuisine before. Today I'm trying the Fettucine Alfredo - I'll let you know how it is.

Ooh, I love 'the Firm'. all the videos I have are really old, and kind of funny. Janet Jones-Gretzky is in one of them (Wayne Gretzky's wife). It is a kick-butt arm workout - probably the most difficult tape I own. I love Gilad, too. He has a one-hour total body conditioning tape that I used 3 times a week once for about 4 months and got soooooo buff.
yea I have a bunch of video's too but I have to say I haven't found anything yet that kicks my but the same way the firm tapes do. Once my body stops hurting lol I'm going to try to stick to the schedule from their site.
I did it once before and I definitely saw results!

I love the smart ones rice and beans..I eat that and a salad and am totally full!!!! I also love the firm, I bought the one with the adjustable step too and they are great.... but i think because im so out of shape now i might head to the video store and get a beginners tape...i think the firm will be too tough for me now.

So, the Lean Cuisine Fettucine Alfredo was pretty good - a little peppery, but I'd buy it again. And I was doing fine, until 7th period when one of my students asked in a cute little voice, 'Miss S., would you like to support the track team and buy some M&Ms?' I'm such a sucker for cute little pleas for help! And for M&Ms! So I bought them. I didn't eat the whole bag, but I ate 200 calories' worth. Bad Davaday! Bad!
So, I pledged to go to the gym, and then I came home to find that the super has shut off all the water in my apartment, toilet and all, and that I need to be here for him to come make emergency repairs this afternoon. So no gym for me. Again. Sigh. I'm counting on you girls to say some mean things about my fatness so I have to go tomorrow.

Good idea! I'm out of shape myself and in sooooo much pain from that damn tape! lol
Just to update you I think I did pretty well at the party. I just had like a small sampling of everything without trying to over do it. Granted the samples were things like mac and cheese, stuffing and rice but I made sure to take small portions of each.
I did have two desserts though, I sliver of chocolate cake that I could literally see through and teeny tiny piece of cheese cake.
I still don't want to weigh in tonight though.

Way to go with the portion control, Lori-Ann! What you described eating shouldn't affect your weigh in tonight. It sounds like you're doing great - keep it up!

Oh by the way, for those of you interested in workout videos, you can't beat this site:
They have everything, and give really great recommendations, plus you can even watch clips of some of the videos before you buy. I've gotten a lot of stuff from there.

Re: 'Put down that Twinkie!' - The Buff Brides Thread
great idea Dava!
I eat a smart ones or lean cuisine everyday. i'm way to lazy to make stuff at home to bring and i have no self control if i go out to eat. We have a mcdonalds right down the block!! The smell is so hard to resist if i even step outside the building!
So, good smart ones i get are the mac and cheese, three cheese ziti, angel hair marinara, and fettuchini (spelling??). Then, i LOVE the lean cuisine french bread cheese pizza, and the panini's (which i think they all have meat, but i pick that off because it grosses me out)
Oh, and for anyone who has not tried it, the smart ones cookie dough sundae is the best diet piece of heaven i have ever tasted!!! It is sooooooo good and only 3 points

Re: 'Put down that Twinkie!' - The Buff Brides Thread
irishsweetheart u have to let us know how ww went and keep us posted on your pre-turkey day workouts!!!!
i like eating a bunch of smaller meals throughout the day...that way u can eat small amounts...but it still feels like 'snacking'. like instead of having big meals and then craving bad for me food...i just have to wait a little bit for my next 'meal' and its just easier for my schedule.
i actually think i need to eat more! i get so busy some days and have so much stuff to do i unintentionally skip meals which is nooot good.
i need the semester to end so i can get back to the gym!

Back from WW and I gained 2 pounds!
I don't understand I was sooo good this week, watching what I was eating and doing the workout and stuff. It's not fair! Maybe it was because of the larger lunch I ate?
Although I am disappointed I'm not going to let this stop me. Just means it's time to really get down to business.

Aww, don't let it get you down. Think of how much progress you've made in total so far. And remember how many things can affect you by 2 pounds or more: a big lunch, your time of the month, a big dinner the night before, a salty dinner the night before (making you retain water)... the important thing is that you have fitness and nutrition goals, and you're sticking to them, so over time your weight will go steadily in the right direction.

Re: 'Put down that Twinkie!' - The Buff Brides Thread
Our Thanksgiving day feast was today also. I was so proud of myself I only had some turkey and stuffing. No desserts for me.... I have to lose only .4 more pounds....thats right point four to hit my goal at WW although I would like to lost more than that goal. I have been at the same weight for the last 3 weeks and I hope to finally loose that without my dessert today
