Q NWR

Hi Ladies,

Q ~ How many of you and your FH/Hubby will remain in NY after you get married? and if you are planning on leaving NY where will you go?

We already left NY. We're living in MD right outside of DC.

so far staying here. nothing concrete, but if we do leave, it will be for NC. the same house his parents have but with more than the tight 'lot' goes for 150-200k in nice areas we already are acquainted with (i grew up there)

we are still in NY, but we are so discouraged by the cost of living here I keep saying to him we should move...
I don't think we ever actually will though because he has to be in the city for his job. Its very depressing.

we will not be able to live in NY unless FH becomes Suffolk PD, but if he doesn't, we'll probably move upstate, or to PA....

I'd rather pay 350k for a brand new huge house in PA than 350k for a small house here on LI, and he agrees. It stinks that my whole family is here though...although, I've mentioned it, and I wouldn't put it past them all to be that far behind me...

We are both still in NY and living at HOME at 29 and 33 years of age... so needless to say, that ***** and after the wedding, we are going to leave NY. it makes me sad because we both grew up here, but who can afford a 400 K house with 10K a year in taxes? it's just not worth it....

we are most likely moving to PA... it's close to home and i have a lot of friends there and know the areas as I went to college out there. if not PA, we also thought about New England... but not close to Boston because that's almost just like LI in terms of house prices.

We're trying but with the cost of living it's not looking too promising. If we go it will be to North Carolina.

We'd really like to stay in NY. DH's daughter lives here with her mom and I'm really close with my family too. But we've been talking about the possibility of PA if the housing bubble doesn't burst soon!!

Yes ~ it is soo discouraging... how much $$ things cost...plus he is depressed lately with his business (a couple of the towns have really kind of screwed him over this season to put it mildly that it could possibly put him out of business...)

+ FH alot of his friends are leaving NY too... when we first met he said he would NEVER leave NY then I saw him on the internet last night and we were looking at houses for a cheaper house that we have double the space we have now....these are just thoughts & probably would never happen...

We are staying in NY. DH is just starting out on the FDNY, so we have to stay for at least 20 years.

Before he got on, we talked very seriously about going to Florida.

We will be staying here. FH & I bought a house here in Oct. Although the cost of the house and taxes are killing us, we want to stay on LI. So I got a 2nd job (which I am fine with) and we are going to rent out part of our house to help pay for the mortgage. We are in the process of making the house a legal 2 family house.

We're hoping to move to Dallas, Texas! We absotudalutely love it there

The homes are beautiful and inexpensive (especially in comparison to NYC)! I go to www.ebby.com at least once a week to search for my dream home :)

We are in NJ now but plan to move elsewhere after the wedding. I think we are CT or PA bound.

deifnitely staying in Queens - hopefully same neighborhood we grew up in (Howard Beach or the surrounding areas)

i could never be too far from my family, esp. since i will probably have to continue working after we have kids

also FH own his own business - so we cant go too far

i never really wanted to leave here so i am ok with it!

We are definitely staying in NY but will probably be in a apartment for awhile. I didn't want to do that becasue honestly I am sick of renting but right now, there is no way we could afford a house by March.
